Pre-Season Balance Changes

    We are very excited announce that we have BUFFED MAGE, and it that is ready to be tested... everywhere! Right now! It is schefuled (scheduled?) to be out as of this post being published. It's been a long time coming, but hopefully this helps put some kick back into Mage's kit and be viable in all levels of play. Along with this much needed buff to the spell caster, we have nerfs to Engineer, and quality of life changes to Chemist.

    BUFFED: Mage

    Damage spell:
    - Cooldown increased to 1 second (from 0.75 seconds)
    - Deals 3 hearts of true damage if hit

    Flame spell:
    - Sets a block on fire if it lands on one, as well as a random adjacent block

    Lightning spell:
    - Radius increased to 4 blocks (from 3 blocks)

    Freeze spell:
    - Duration decreased to 2 seconds (from 3 seconds)
    - Mage's spells can now deal damage through freeze!

    Armor:
    - Increased protection level on chestplate and leggings by 1


    Nerfed: Engineer

    - Reduced speed duration to 3s, down from 6s

    - Increased cake cooldown to 8s, up from 5s

    - Increased damage fall-off on TNT; the farther you are away from the center of the explosion, the less damage you will take

    - Engineer now has a golden shovel when it has TNT

    - Increased restrictions on placing speed beacon

    Nerfed: Medic

    - Reduced maximum on-field webs from 3 to 2

    Changed: Chemist
    - Increased protection level to 16% (previously 12%)

    - Removed the mana requirement for anything that is not a debuff.

    - Increased mana consumption of damage pots to 50%, for poison pots to 25%

    These changes will be live on the match server and casual for at least the next week. They will then be reviewed and finalized prior to the season. During this period of time, we would like to hear as much feedback as possible on these changes so that we can make the correct decisions before the season starts.

    Overall, these are some nice changes. That being said,
    dear lord I don't think I'm ready for this pain

    This is cool and all but like this is not really what was discussed with community as potential buffs besides maybe my suggestion of making spells more powerful but longer tba to be stronger in general but also promote aiming also I notice a lack of movement ability addition

    Is the increased restrictions on placing engineer speed beacons per map, or is this a general rule such as "if you're 10 or less blocks from spawn you can't place it"?
