    Summer 2021 Draft Team's Tournament

Hey CTF Community! As season 2 comes to a close, CMS is continuing with the second draft team tournament! Players will be chosen to compete in competitive and exciting matches streamed and covered courtesy of CTF Match Spotlight.

    How It Will Work:
Signups begun June 15th and run until 11:59pm EST on June 29th. Leader applications and referee applications will follow the same timetable.

The goal of this tournament is to achieve a fun experience for the CTF community by providing a competitive event.

    Drafting:
Leaders will be selected based on 1) In-game skill, 2) knowledge of CTF, and 3) drafting/management ability (such as leading competitive teams or having successful history in leader pick PPMs. Upon being selected, leaders will be ranked by the tournament committee according to the three guidelines outlined above. Additionally, leaders will be held to strict activity requirements in order to keep the tournament running smoothly. From there, the drafting order will be created.

The entirety of the draft will be streamed by CTF Match Spotlight on an undetermined date ranging from June 30th - July 8th

    “T” = Team
    Example draft order: T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T6, T5… etc

    Format:
There will be a four-week group stage resulting in a healthy number of preliminary matches prior to the final stage of the tournament. From there, all the teams will be seeded into a playoff bracket based on their performance.

Tie breakers in the event two teams finish with the same record will firstly be determined by head-to-head result, followed by map differential, and finally by capture differential.

*Note differential means the number of map wins or captures achieved subtracted by the number of maps or captured conceded.

There is a standard single elimination playoff bracket in place for the bracket stage.

    Match Information:
The default size of each match will be a 10v10, however team leaders can agree to play up to a 14v14 or as low as an 8v8.

These will be the default rules and limits for each match (MMR and 1 ninja cap/map; no ghosting applies to each size):
    8v8
1x Assassin, Archer, Engineer, Mage, Necro, Pyro, Scout, Medic
    2x Heavy, Ninja, Soldier

    10v10
1x Assassin, Archer, Engineer, Mage, Necro, Pyro, Scout
    2x Chemist, Elf, Medic, Ninja
    3x Heavy, Soldier

    11v11 - 12v12
1x Assassin, Archer, Engineer, Mage, Necro, Pyro, Scout
    2x Chemist, Elf, Medic
    3x Heavy, Ninja, Soldier

    13v13 - 14v14
1x Assassin, Archer, Engineer, Mage, Necro, Pyro, Scout
    3x Elf, Chemist, Medic, Ninja
    4x Heavy, Soldier

    Map Pool:
Teams will be required to select maps from a specified pool. Included in the map pool are 4 maps from the previous tournament, with 4 new maps currently in rotation. In addition to the map pool, the first map of each match will be predetermined prior to the start of the match.

    Map Pool:

    [3 captures]
    1. Airlock III
    2. American Fort I
    3. Lowrise I
    4. Pagodas III
    5. Skyworlds VI

    [4 captures]
    1. Aquarium I
    2. Bazaar I
    3. Rundown

    [5 captures]
    1. Adrenaline I
    2. Blackout 2020
    3. Castle Caverns VI
    4. Forest of Rivals II

The first maps of each week will be one of the three or four capture maps in the pool chosen by the hosts. From there, the loser's pick format will take place. Each week, 6 of the remaining maps will be RNG'd to be eligible to be picked as a loser's choice. The other 6 will not be able to be chosen that week.

*For example, during week one the first map played will be Aquarium I, and teams will be permitted to choose a random assortment of six maps from the pool, the other six are unable to be played.

*The goal of this is to have a wide variety of maps available to teams while allowing for different maps to be played on a week-to-week basis.

Loser's Pick Example: Team A loses on Pagodas III ⇨ Team A chooses the next map to be played ⇨ Team A defeats Team B ⇨ Team B chooses the next map to be played.

    Trades:
Trades will allow for teams to trade up to 2 players until the trade deadline. This will allow for teams in need of specific roles to mutually benefit in the form of equal trades. To ensure fair trades occur, players drafted in the first three rounds of the draft will be untouchable - they cannot be traded. In order for a trade to occur, both team leaders must agree to the trade and the tournament committee must approve that it is of equal value.

Example: Team A needs more offensive players while Team B needs an Archer. Team A can trade b0squet while Team B will trade Souljuh, mutually benefitting both sides.

    Schedule:
The entirety of the tournament will last seven weeks, ending in mid-August. The schedule has the possibility to be reworked depending on the number of teams participating.

The trade deadline will remain firm, after the second match, no more trades will be allowed to occur. Below is an example schedule, in word form:

    Signups/Draft: Signups from June 15th - June 29th; draft anywhere from June 30 - July 8
    Match 1: July 12 - July 19
    Match 2: July 19 - July 25
Trade Deadline: July 25 (Final day to commit trades).
    Match 3: July 26 - August 1
    Match 4: August 2 - August 8
    Quarterfinals: August 9 - August 15
    Semifinals: August 16 - August 22
    Finals: August 23 - August 29

    Team & Player Rules:
*Breach of any of these rules may result in a removal from the tournament*
    1. No substitutions or free agents will be allowed after the signup date. If a team loses a player due to de-committing from the tournament, a new player can be obtained if it is agreed to be an equal trader. This is to prevent an imbalance occurring through the use of substitutions
    2. However, in the event teams need substitutes for a particular match, a sub pool will be available for the teams. In the event a team cannot make a 12v12 or similar size, a reduction in the size of the match should take place before utilizing the sub pool.
    3. Players must play on their own, main account, and only for their designated team.
    4. Teams will be assigned to public Discord calls during scheduled matches to ensure a level playing field.
    Tournament Discord:
In order to successfully moderate the tournament, a tournament Discord will be created in which all players, leaders, planners, and any staff related members will join. Teams will have their own private chats and calls which can be utilized. Additionally, this Discord will serve as a medium for all parties when it comes to discussing trades, questions, announcements, and general discussion.

    Player Referees:
Due to the nature of the matches, these games will not be counted as official matches. Many staff members may find themselves playing in the tournament, which will allow the opportunity for player referees. These referees must be approved based on knowledge, past history, maturity, the ability to show unbiased judgement, and other factors. These individuals will gain no additional power, but will have the authority on reading rules and calling out rule breakers with in-game moderators able to enforce the standard actions such as /spectate and /timer lock for the referee.

*Note: Being selected as a referee will only give you permissions to referee the matches in this specific tournament. This is not a “ref rank” or anything similar; after the tournament ends, you will have no authority to referee any sort of official events/matches.

    Applications:
There will be three applications available for everyone to fill out. You may apply for as many of the positions as you like, and will be evaluated for each one individually, regardless of how many you choose to fill out.

    Participant Application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...BLwZexzoSlRD2PEn5cJ5BHcA/viewform?usp=sf_link

    Team-Leader Application: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...G40qwntUQBu0LOnLOh8ugRxg/viewform?usp=sf_link

    Referee App.: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1...nAabSCw_4ZmWQ-xutgvqIXkA/viewform?usp=sf_link

*All applicants must sign up using the google form. Those not chosen will be put into a sub pool for the entirety of the tournament.*

*By applying for referee you agree to undergo a small training session to ensure you are prepared for the matches.*

    *No packages are allowed*

Any questions feel free to DM me on Discord (Foodcourt#6408) or ask them here.
Thank you for reading, best of luck to everyone participating!
