Proposal: No steak CTF

    So, here's the logic:
    Without steak, your health is your health. No getting any of it back unless you're healed by a medic or engineer.
    But why?
    Well, having no steak solves many problems-
    Instakills:
    It's very hard to figure out something that will replace an instakill. Why? True damage is nice, but you could just steak it off and run away. Sure, it would impact you negatively, but almost any class would have enough of a healthpool to recover from this and leave the flagroom or kill the recoverer/run for a medic.
    Medic:
    Medic becomes less valuable. Instead of giving you up to an additional 20 hearts of health, a medic instead can only give you ten. This makes it VERY hard to hold a flag and makes classes like ninja devastating, while at the same time making recovering very hard as anything but ninja/assassin.
    Mage:
    Taking away mages heal spell in exchange for passive low-level regeneration could be the nerf it deserves, while the lack of steak makes everything else very vulnerable.
    Newbies:
    A game is much easier to learn without having to figure out what steak does
    Elf:
    Pure element can go nuts now. Elf is going to be fearsome.
    Faster gameplay:
    Gameplay goes much faster if you can't tank all theese hits from other players. It makes offense substantially harder and makes teamwork really count.
    Rebalancing:
    Of course, everything would need a little rebalance for this to work, namely:
    Assassin (True damage burst and no vulnerability)
    Ninja (sword to sharpness 1 or 2)
    Mage (mentioned above)
    Pyro (true damage)
    Chemist (healing pots removed but not regeneration, regeneration goes to 1, sword goes to stone sword, no strength potions, speed + fire resistance)
    Archer (DoT effect that really weakens enemy)


    In short, I'm not garunteeing this will work, but it's worth a shot.

    Think about stealing the flag in a flagroom with 3 heavys or something. With no instant health pool, it would be almost impossible to steal the flag.

    Elf: This was meant as a support class. I see the pure element only for 'defending yourself' or helping a teammate chased with killing some of his chasers. So in short, it doesn't have to fear enemies alot.

    Medic: can medic still restore items when they have 10 hearts or more?

    Mage: yes and no. A mage just has to hide for getting his full health again. The other side it that in fight it will be less harder to kill, something which quite some people want actually.

    Flag holding: this would almost be impossible. Even with a medic. You can do nothing more then fight back. If you run away you have no chance... And fighting back is also not the best option.

    Newbies: they will find it out. How did everyone come so far if they didn't know how steak works and what it does?

    Ninja: if ninja gets a sharpness 1/2 sword, you can almost say medic is better. It does less damage, yes, but it can resist quite alot more hits then ninja. Who would buy ninja then?

    Assassin: say atleast that assassin takes the damage it would do itself. It's needed that assassin is easy-to-kill after using its boost.

    Chemist: was pretty op, now it looks like useless. A stone sword and you don't even have strength pots. I see all this potspammers comming... Fire resistance would make it harder for pyro. Without, pyro will dominate chemist also.

    Faster gameplay: to fast. It would be to hard to survive.

    Killstreaks: how would you ever get those if you can't heal yourself. After 1 fight, you cant do 1 more if you got damaged to much.

    +/- because I'm not sure. This idea might work in relation with the combat update. Also absorption could start becoming a thing in CTF. But @Sir_Inge don't you think engineer would be extremely OP when there is no healing?

    Its a really nice idea, but steak has always been an important part of ctf and I wouldn't want to have it changed. Although some classes could use a reduction of steak amount, e.g. soldier and medic.

    Honestly, I prefer slower games, they let you be more strategic. Plus short games are generally too short when it comes to soldiers/ninjas.

    I did say things would have to be tweaked.

    TBH that's what we need to fix CTF now.

    ITT: "No" Replies with no body to back it up.

    First of all, this would make ninjas, chemists, and engineer insanely overpowered, which really don't need to be more than it already is. Ninjas can easily kill people because every other class has a health nerf. Chemists' health/regeneration potions make chemist the tankiest class. If steak is taken away, then it just becomes that much overpowered. Engineers would completely dominate because they don't need to worry about their health because of their regenerater and turret combo.

    Secondly, I would like to see how this would play out if steak is added to total health with the health boost buff. One steak would add 4 hearts of total health. Heavy would have 22 hearts and medic would have 34 hearts

    What is needed to fix ctf is remove chat, completely and totally remove chat, no harassing, no raging, etc. If not, then take care of the corrupt mods that way harassers do get muted for a time. If they nerf all the classes like this, ctf will die again, but faster then we can say spice.(in honesty, with this community, i think the dying thing wouldnt be so bad). I fully believe this has to be one of the dumbest ideas in the history of minecraft and ctf in general.

    That's an interesting concept but the issue with that since it takes away steak and merges it into the health pool, steak cannot be used strategically which makes combat more difficult - and in a way less interesting.

    Basically, steak is why true damage doesn't work and nothing short of an instakill will make soldier counter able.
