Resignation The moment you've all been waiting for

Well, my time has come. After months of arguments, stress, and disrespect, I’ve finally come to a decision that I’ve been debating for quite a while now. Being a player was a blast, but unfortunately I have come to realize that those days of enjoying brawl are just a memory now. There are many things that have spurred my resignation, so let me get into that:


Raid Manager:


When I got this promotion originally (should have gotten it way before but whatever), I absolutely loved it. Raid / Survival PvP was my pride and joy - my home and baby. It was so fun wasting my life on this gamemode, and finally having control over this server and being able to make an impact on the community was the best gift anyone could give me. It was great for the first while, but the fun quickly ran out due to several reasons. The main issues here weren’t the stress of planning, deadlines or coming up with new ideas to revive the server - all of these things I loved, but it was the server manager system itself that made my time unenjoyable. Whenever I had ideas for events / updates, 80% of the time I had to ask several times to get an answer. Yes you admins and coders are busy, but how long does it take for you to approve an idea? A simple yes or no would do me fine. Instead I would often get ignored (not by all may I add, but most), or get some snappy answer for who knows what reason. If you guys are too busy, then why not get more admins? Would that not make things easier for everyone? Anyways, we staff are volunteers that give up our time for you guys to get paid, so the least you can do is show us a little more respect, thanks. Without us, you wouldn't be getting paid to sit in your pajamas all day playing cs go run a Minecraft server. Anyways enough of my ranting. To sum all of this up, I have felt a very large amount of disrespect and unappreciation from the higher ups and I simply cannot take it anymore. We, the server managers represent the community, and should have the most important say on what changes / updates need to be done. If we were given more power and responsibilities within our server, Brawl could be way more efficient and get more community based things done (events, etc.).


Here are some notes I took a while back while writing a previous resignation about my frustrations with the Raid Update:

For months now, I have voluntarily given up hours upon hours of my time to plan a raid update that would hopefully revive the dead server. I looked over all of the raid forum for ideas, complaints, and talked one on one with the community so that everyone's voice could be represented. After finally completing the suggested update, many ideas were shut down, called stupid, etc. Did you guys [admins] understand that you don't know the server like I do? Or the community for that matter? However, this wasn't the only response. According to putty, we cannot afford to do all of the raid update because we need to use our money wisely. Yeah sure ok. I then spent another few days trying to plan a solution to this. My result was to start a #MakeRaidGreatAgain campaign where we could ask the community for donations and post the document to get their feedback and create hope for the server. After this idea being approved, I made the thread and did everything on my part to make this happen. Of course when I was finished, putty changes his mind and scraps this idea because it's “embarrassing”. Ok nice! What about having a dead server with no more than 15 players on at a time? Is that not embarrassing? And a waste of money? So in short, a lot of this update was cut down because we apparently didn't have the funds - which contradicted to Putty's response to my ideas for a new purchase system suggested earlier that would bypass the EULA, having that we are financially stable and my idea not being ‘creative’. Fantastic.


So after all this happened and the update was finished being coded, the new version apparently was “accidentally released”. This means that all new features were live on the server and players could see all of this before it was suppose to be released, ruining the hype and surprise of the new release - an important feature in my plan to revive raid. After this was discovered, the staff team basically exploded. I freaked out at Mario because he did not communicate whatsoever with me during the development stages of the update. One would think that this would be important for a dev to do with their partnering server manager. I had no idea of the progress or final features that were being added. I was ignored when I asked for a test server for the new version and it took quite some time to get a list of what changes were being added to raid so I could make the release thread. Great system right? And before someone says “well you could have said this earlier before you just resign”, I did bring this up actually - months ago during the one and only smod meeting ( and many, many times later ). Apparently it takes an argument to get stuff done around here. I unfortunately have run out of patience to wait around for this to be “fixed”. But yeah, ranting again.


Current note: I did plan my resignation last week, and talked to Cuddled, who worked out some sort of compromise for me to stay. The compromise did solve *some* of the issues I had, but even still, this alone is not enough for me to stay, and I’m not sure you guys can solve this, as stated before during discussions about complaints I’ve made. It was also semi frustrating to have these promises made to me that weren’t kept. I was promised certain things by a date, that of which was not given. It’s not fully that I am growing impatient, but more so the fact that if the server really valued me, and didn’t want me to leave, then fulfill this promise to show how serious you are about listening to me and wanting me to stay. I don’t think it would have taken that long to implement what I asked for either. All I wanted was some already existing commands for events and random things to make Brawl more fun. If something is being held back, why not just tell me that instead? :n Yes it may not seem important to you guys reading this, but it was to me as it symbolized the worth of the staff here.

Promotion Drama:

It makes me sad to leave Brawl now. Deep down, I still do love the server and want to do my best to improve things, but I feel hindered by all of the negative things above. I dreamed of having admin, and that would make my intentions so much easier. I really wanted to bring the community and staff team closer by having more events and more spontaneous experiments with random minigames and whatnot. I must say, Peas promotion to Smod after 3 weeks really stirred me up inside. It was almost frustrating to see someone basically instantly promoted to Smod after the rest of us have been working months, if not years to hopefully get a promotion like that (hence part of feather’s resignation). Yes he was a former admin, but after leaving for 2 years or whatever it was, why should he take this position over the others? Feather’s dedication for party was outstanding, and that is something in my opinion that is the most important part for a server manager. Here is what peas said to me after an argument in the staff slack:

“It's not don't worry - I myself am aware that, in terms of simply a server manager, Featherpaw is possibly the best for Party and Snacks for WarZ, I just got given the job & I wasn't going to say ‘Actually nahhhhhhhhh’”.

Even peas himself agreed that this probably wasn’t the best choice for the promotion, but decided to keep quiet about it for his benefit, even after a resignation of a hard working, dedicated staff member. Wasn’t too happy about all of that personally, even putting aside that feather was a great friend. Anyways, having said all of this now, I felt almost discouraged for my chances of getting admin one day due to how this promotion was handled. Hard work and dedication didn’t pay off in this case, and it made me question a lot.

For all the people who made this server fun for me and have helped me along my journey here, I sincerely thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Brawl has been a huge part of my life, and I have loved the majority of the time I've spent here. I wish you the best of luck and I give my approval for you to take over raid manager. Try to have fun while you can. You know we'll stay in contact my drunk little skunk. Take care of Melvin for me. You’ve been there for me through a lot, and talking about things with you really helped me in a lot of cases. You are extremely smart, sincere, and caring, and I really do thank you for being there for me. I really will miss playing with you, but I’m sure I’ll hop on MC sometime to hang out again. @AnonymousGalaxy Melvin. You're one of my best friends here and a chill guy in general. An excellent addition to the staff team and I hope you have fun here. Thanks for always being positive and trying to brighten the mood whenever I got salty. You're a great guy. Truly one of the nicest out there. @Lord_Roke You're an excellent admin and have been a role model for me throughout my time here. A mature, professional and funny guy who really looked out for people in the staff team. I was delighted when putty resigned because I thought you would get head admin. Oh well :/ Keep doing what you do, you're doing a great job.

@Canoodle You're a chill person and very understanding. Thank you for this opportunity. It has been a pleasure for the most part moderating here but I wish things would be better. Remember not to feel bad about demotions, they deserve it :u Thank you for trying to fix things, but sadly I don’t think it’s really enough, so sorry.

@Raid Community My home. I loved playing with you all for almost 3 years. It has been some of the best times of my life and Survival PvP (NOT RAID!) has always been a (relatively) safe place for me to just hang out, chill, and forget. We've had our ups and downs, but I've tried my best to represent you all and keep your best interests in mind. I wish I didn't have to leave, but sadly, my time has come. Good news though - your bases are 90% safer now ;p

@Macozzz A true legend and the reason I stayed here for so long. I know you won’t see this, but you were / and are still an awesome friend. I will never forget all the fun we used to have. The bed tower war with T2BU, spending hours upon hours practicing pvp (and me getting rekt), playing farm hunt, sucking at build wars, getting banned on faction servers for who knows what reason xD, learning to track here, the endless raids, waking up at 5am to raid BA55 ugh the memories <3 Wish you would have stayed, but school comes first. Good luck man.

@GreenPeas I used to like you, but now you're a bit of a prick. I've found you've been using a lot of us to get up the staff system. You don't deserve Smod imo. It's really unfair that you can quit, and come back and take positions that you don't really deserve over people who are dedicated and worked so hard for this position.

@GetShadowRealmed Ban *****. You are the reason the new stat system is in place. Your bragging and all that made some staff feel bad about themselves, so go do something better with your time than boasting about Minecraft stats please.

@chickenputty @Mario You two were very rude to me during my time here. I didn't deserve the disrespect you guys gave me, as I was just trying to do my job the best I could, and represent the community. As a volunteer, this is not something I will take any longer. I wish you would have taken me, and Raid seriously because you two are a huge reason of why I am resigning.
