There should be a limit on how long you get to camp at the opposing team's flag. If you stay there for more than a minute, it should start to damage you and lure you away. Also, crossteaming (befriending people on the other team and camping at their flag for the entire game) should be banned, and anyone who does it should be temporarily banned. It's annoying, and it's confusing for other people. Your first instinct is to obliterate them. And to have them literally there the whole game takes away from the point of the game, and literally drives people nuts, including myself, hence I am making this thread. I'm literally fed up with coming onto a game just to see half of the other team sitting at my flag all day long. Let's see what you guys think now.

-1 for the first idea as it could make recovery way too hard on some maps and could also make taking out Dwarves harder than it already is (have been camped by enemies many times as Dwarf) which is definitely not a good thing.

-1 for the second idea. I play late at night when there's <15 people online and a lot of crossteaming (due to low player count and most people being friends with each other - as you said) and while it does disrupt the game I don't really mind it. Personally I like messing around more than seriously playing CTF - mainly because I'm bad at it :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, even if you were going to have a punishment for crossteaming, a temporary ban is a little excessive. It might be annoying if people like @WHIP_ME_SON are derping around in your team's flagroom but they're not breaking any rules. You might as well temp ban people for going AFK.

If i were in your shoes, I would stop complaining and whining about seeing a different team at the opposite teams flag just 'chilling'.. I don't understand how you are triggered by this..

Well most of the people who do said thing all know each other and/or are good friends with each other creating a truce. If you were to actually sort of participate in community events/get known as a regular you would understand our point of view. Getting killed at the opposing teams flag room is litterally what the concept of defense revolves around, and with out it CTF wouldn't be CTF. CTF would just become who ever can steal and make it back to their flag first before the other team gets the flag wins, otherwise just wait and see who can survive the longest without dying to flag poison and stall the game.

People have been crossing teaming and derpying around for a while now and only now this has come up? And it's not the players fault for going AFK if they need to do a job or something so stop complaining and deal with it, Geesus

If people from the other team are standing around at your flag room, it shouldn't bother you. That means there's less people from the other team defending, leading to an easier cap for you. During the late night CTF times, it's just a bunch of friends hanging out.

-1 for the ideas but I've got to agree that crossteaming isn't always the nicest thing to have in your flagroom. 1. They block you from attacking the people who go for your flag, 2. If you accidentally kill them they get mad at you(why though?!?! :frowning: ), 3. It just ruins the game in most cases. Though I do like it from time to time, there's just not much to do about it either, sometimes it's positive, sometimes it's negative. In my opinion it's fine .

This is nothing short of ridiculous. If "crossteamers" are a bother to you, you can just kill them as @JayOG said already, and given they're not even helping their own team, you're gaining an advantage by letting them stay around. That's not to mention does every player have to solely play the objective 100% of the time? Can players have fun on CTF in ways other than playing objectively? To kick or ban a player for crossteaming given those circumstances makes little to no sense. -1

Camping a flag is strategic. If you can keep hold of a flagroom, you can steal the flag and escape much more easily, which is definitely playing the objective. There's no need for poison as unless the campers have a medic they'll eventually die. If they do have a medic, well you know what to go for first.

This honestly just sounds like a cry to get rid of stuff you don't particularly like. There is nothing inherently wrong with either of these. I get it can be annoying, so if it bothers do something about it in-game. Kill the "crossteamers" (plenty of people try for the record), repeatedly target the players in the flagroom until they've gone (and enlist help from your team if you can't do it solo). That's a much better way of dealing with it than getting angry about it and making an angry retaliation that all "crossteamers" should be banned!

CTF is supposed to be fun, not an overly competitive ****show. In fact if you watch closely enough you'd see that some people avoid killing each other due to their respect and friendship they have. What your suggesting is probably one of the most idiotic suggestions I've heard and I have to listen to @BrandinoB 's border jokes.

Although it is something that can be upsetting to some people, this is far from something bannable (let alone punishable). It's just a game, and CTF is not the only game where this occurs.

Well why the hell chill on the game if you can do it on skype or something? Some people wanna play the God-forsaken game. Plus some that hang out just like to disrupt you (especially medics) rather than chill with their friends. There's a time and place for everything. Read that previous sentence again. None of you guys except for Proterozoic have given a valid counter argument.

I don't think someone who's argument points include calling people names like "idiot" and "dickhead" is capable of providing an accurate assessment of the validity of someone else's argument. And there is almost always plenty of people playing the game, with just a few people choosing not to play objectively.

Call me out on being civil while someone said this was an "idiotic suggestion." That's not providing an accurate assessment of the validity of someone's counterargument either, is it? And those people who don't play objectively are almost never seen actually doing so.

You're telling us that we should ban something because it basically triggers you?

No, because I think it disrupts the game.
