    I agree tbh. blackout and whiteout are fun af and ive got over 150 kills on forest of rivals before. but the more vertical maps just make it really hard to cap.

    slate is basically just go mage/archer/pyro and camp the tunnel things onto your side. since it is such a long map it takes ages to get back and since there are so many kill*****s it makes it frustrating to play.

    soul is absolute hell because its so narrow and if you want to avoid getting knocked off the sides you have to go down the mid bridge which is just a massive choke point. plus the flag is right above spawn so if you do get past mid you have to get past another load of people >:L

    i think its also worth pointing out that blackout is an extremely commonly agreed pick for team matches so, despite the fact that the map ratings may not put it at #1, its still a really fun map to play on. i'd also say thats evident through how its the only 30minute map and one of few maps that has never been successfully reworked.

    also when you consider how many of the longer maps have been changed, e.g. castle village being completely reworked and the fact that is has restrictions EVERYWHERE, along with how maps like soul had to have the flag building reworked, but how blackout has only ever had minor gameplay changes made (adding sponges and ladders in places), i think it reflects on how balanced and enjoyable these maps actually are since they need changing so much.

    i see it in my own map too. lighthouse V is a very long map and i was asked by a mod to move the flag forward and i added lots of restriction to the flag cave since it just wasnt enjoyable to play. you have to look at more than map ratings @Flavorous and more past your own opinion @Sir_Inge when you're considering what makes a map good or not.

    Those are facts I didn't explain. I didn't have time to go into detail, hence why I tagged tenshi who has a better argument as to why than me.

    they're not facts lmao. if they were bad maps they'd be out of rotation and not as many people would pick them in team matches. before you come at me with a load of "theory" of how it's soldier op/archer op, etc, just consider what i've said .-.

    It's a fact that they're bad maps. It's also a fact that they're popular. If they weren't popular, they'd be removed.

    there's definitely a correlation between how good a map is and how popular a map is. there wouldn't have been a thread on the forums that got over 50 likes to readd blackout if it was a bad map

    You shouldn't defend a map that gets picked for virtually every team match. Let the actions speak for itself.

    Blackout/Whiteout make me lag, so I usually choose a class that has great camping abilities...the engineer.
    Forest of Rivals is a pretty decent map, imo.
