Resignation Everything Must Come To An End

It’s been over a year and 9 months since I was accepted as a Moderator to MC-War, and around 3 years since I first started playing Brawl (back then known as MultiplayerServers). After being so inactive recently and not really helping anyone out with anything in the Upper Staff Team, I decided that it would do my best, and would do the rest of the staff best if I resign.

It’s a cliché as it always is and you see it in almost every single resignation, and unfortunately I have to head off for the same reasons. I wish these things weren’t so time consuming and wish they didn’t eat up your whole day and evening spare time, however I guess these things are more important, and time has to be allocated to things that are more important. First of all:

School: Yes, I know it’s almost summer for a lot of you, but for me summer doesn’t start until the end of July going into early August. As well as this, my summer break only lasts for about 6 weeks, and in these 6 weeks I will be gone for at least 3, as I’m planning to go on a huge trip to Norway with family and friends. In the next 2 months before summer starts, I’m anticipating a hell of a lot of work to do, because of our new courses which seem to be so much harder than the old courses. My grades are fine, but to keep up with consistently getting these grades, I’m going to have to put more work into my subjects. As well as this, after summer, so in around early Septemer-ish I’ll be back at school again with a lot of work to do, and it manages to take up heaps of amount of time in the evening, and during my free time, I would rather be doing something fun rather than dealing with hackers etc. after a really long day of work.

Sport: Currently, I’m playing at a reasonably high standard of table tennis which most of the time requires me to either travel for hours around the country or to another country in Europe to compete in tournaments. As you can probably guess, this takes up pretty much all of my weekend a lot of the time unfortunately, but table tennis is a sport that I’m very passionate about and I would never give anything up for it. As well as this I train about 4 times a week for 2 hours each session, and you can tell, this on top of homework from the day is a recipe for disaster.

Music: Currently I am playing Grade 7 piano, and for all the musicians out there, you will know how time consuming an instrument is, to have to practice and go to the lessons is a reasonable amount of weight on your shoulders, along with the stress of being prepared for the exam at the right time. Again, I love playing the piano and I would never give anything up for it.

From all these 3 things, you can see that most of my days and weekends are taken up by lots of activities, let alone the time that I get free I want to spend with friends wherever, but something had to go to make time for another thing. Unfortunately the thing that was staring at me right in the face was Brawl. Lastly:

Brawl: Now, I used to be in love with the server and the games that it offered to players, and I remember one summer when I was playing, Brawl was up to almost 3000 players at peak, and almost every War server was full, and this was the time when I was super competitive about it, stupid really when I look back on it, but those times that I had and the awesome people that I met then will always stay with me, and I won’t forget that. Recently however, the servers have become a bit receptive and stale for me, and this might just be because I played them so much when I was younger. Who knows, maybe once I’m gone the servers may appear as fun again and I may end up coming back and playing all day in the summer, we’ll just have to wait and see.

Deciding to resign from my position at Brawl has probably been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, simply because I’ve always been worried that when I go I’ll miss this place too much, and that’s why I didn’t resign months ago. There is still a part of myself that really loves this place, and I do. Most of the people have been so great to me and many others, and I would truly like to thanks absolutely EVERYONE for the fantastic experience that I have had my time here.

Some of the times that I had here will be absolutely unforgettable. Reaching level 41 on War to unlock the SkullCrusher was a huge moment for me, reaching level 100 on War was also a big moment, getting a 6.0 KDR, 4 members of my clan nuking in one game of Dust. Applying and being accepted for Moderator was probably the best moment I’ve had. I was so scared originally of all the admins and SMods, and I still was as a Moderator. Then when I got promoted to SMod which was also a big moment for me personally, I found out with the help of being promoted with a friend that the Upper Staff Team are really quite fun to be around and that they are just like all the rest of us (maybe just a bit more weird and hyper and also really can’t sing -> ). The best time period I had was when I was actually active as an SMod and really doing my best to help out the server best I could, as well as messing around in the staff rooms and public channels in TeamSpeak. Because of all of these fun memories that I’ve had here, I didn’t go. But I guess that I’m letting go of the position, not the memories.

Again, I would just like to say a huge and absolute thank you to everyone in the community, from war players to CTF players, you’ve made my time here an incredible one, and I can say that I have learnt lots of things from my time here. I have just a few tags for the people that really did stand out for me:

@Lord_Roke: Honestly, you are the person that I would always talk too when I was bored or interested in something, you were my go to man.

@chickenputty: The guy who really does keep Brawl moving, even during that time you really made my time here great as a staff member, and thank you so much for that (your singing made my ears bleed though so don’t scare off any new staff members with your attempted high notes)

@MrCowlick: For helping me during those times where I really did need someone, you were there for me, and I will never be able to repay you for that.

@AllWarPlayers: The time I had on the server was amazing, and the people that I met during those 3 years of playing was my favourite part about it. Thank you for being an awesome sub-community <3

@Everyone: Everyone at Brawl deserves to be recognised for simply how amazing this community is, even though we don’t have as many players as the big servers, loads of people in the community are quite characters to say the least, which is why everyone deserves to be mentioned.

And finally, @MrWaffleman what about those kids in Africa?
