There is a very important subject that needs to be formally addressed - buffs. On. Heavies.

I'm sure I speak for at least half the CTF community when I say that, once a heavy receives buffs from a chemist, it becomes the most unbalanced class in the game. Sure, it's fun and all, but it's simply too strong when used by someone at least marginally decent at PvP.

Heavy on its own is a great class, and super balanced as the basis of PvP.

To make it short and sweet, I think there should be some sort of coding that registers when a heavy receives buffs and switches out it's weapon during that time. Replace the diamond sword with an iron or stone sword for that period, or whatever. The speed can still be utilized, but the strength would be balanced. As it is, buffed heavies can kill probably half the classes in 3-4 hits or less because of their low armor. And this is only helped by none other than -

    THE CRITS.

Which are a problem on their own.

Anyway, I made a poll so you guys can put an opinion and leave a comment. Don't write a comment like "lol you just suck at defending" because that's not constructive criticism. I'm totally open to any reasonable opinions that support full buffs on heavies. But lemme tell you now, not five minutes ago I watched a buffed heavy go on a 21-kill streak with no medic or anything. [CC: @NotNameless lol. Seriously though, that was legendary]

So, some classes can kill other classes instantly. But a Heavy isn't allowed to 2-3 shot someone with help from a teammate?

Heavy is a very strong class, I wont debate ya on that. But I like that, its simple and fun. CTF is also a game about teams, so getting buffed up from a Chemist is of course an option.

Buffs really shoudent be used to balance a class. Why not just get buffs yourself?

Once the crits are fixed I think damage will be more managable. Heavy was strong with buffs before, but with these crits they do insane damage.

    It'll make a big difference for sure once crits are fixed, and I'll have to re-evaluate afterwards whether it's still unbalanced. I can't be sure right now bc it's been so long since the bug wasn't there ;-;

The thing with buffs is that they're only actually useful on certain classes, namely melee classes - work with heavy/soldier, especially useful on Ninja for recov, etc.

But, a class like mage (which I main lol) really has no use for them - sure, they get you to the flag faster but the strength is pointless; and, mage is 9 times out of 10 killed by an assassin/ninja or sniped by a rcher, which puts the speed to no good use either. Buffs are rather subjective.

I've played buffed heavy a few times and it is ridiculously fun, but I still think it's a little unbalanced as it is.

    BUT:

There are other classes that need reworks first. Like necro.
    NECRO.
    mods pls

I'd rather see Heavy buff times reduced instead of the damage tbh. Good thread though +1

Come on, classes like assassin (not going to count archer here) can instantly kill people, sure, but they're quite weak when you can defend against them (i.e blocking)
Heavy can 2- 3 shot people, but yet it's still strong with the 3 steak, diamond armour and sword etc etc and crits make it worse, you just need a heavy that jumps up and down like he's on sugar high to destroy a crowd

Buffed heavy wasn't regarded as overpowered before the crit change. To me it's fairly clear that the crit damage has to be reduced rather than the buff strength.

Ye but the classes that instakill/pyro have weak armor. If you combine the armor with the speed and damage output, it's basically unstoppable in a 1 on 1 situation, even with a class like pyro or chemist.

I dont think their is a real argument hear. Buffs should affect every class the same. It encourages teamwork and buffed heavies may be the most versatile class. Now even though buffed heavy is very strong its not proper to limit the effect buffs have on it. Im not against a rework to heavy (but what could u really adjust to the simplest class) Theirs so many classes that need focus aswell (archer OP, necro UP, dwarf tankyness, engineer flagroom turrets, and ofc ninja buff)

The buffs dont last forever, so dont worry about buffed heavies. Besides if buffed heavy is really annoying you that much, then just go buffed heavy yourself then. There isnt really a problem with buffed heavies, its just the crits that need to be fixed, once we have a coder in like...........7894957823 years??!?!

The buffs do last a good while though, and people can always get buffed again.
