    CTF Map Submission

    Map Name: Industry
    Style: *stratches head* uhh Industry? Factory type, with pipes, machines, etc.

    Note: The map has large walls on the side. This makes it slightly Soldier OP, but eventually they loose energy and cant go anywhere, so it shouldn't be much of a problem.
    The map is also totally enclosed, so if you visit it and get locked out somehow... pfft.. wait til I come on I guess.

    From the pictures, the map flag room doesn't look like part of a factory and parts are over detailed and under detailed. Some bits look very soldier, archer and ninja op. Will look in game later

    So if he made slums 2.0, you'd give him a +1?

    I was reviewing this with @GalaThundR earlier. Personally, I don't like it much aesthetically or gameplay. Here's why.

    The flagroom has way too many entrances.

    There is quite a bit of random clutter in the flag room.

    The map is very flat making it archer op.

    You can get across the map with touching the ground only twice as soldier.

    The flagroom is behind spawn, this means that attackers will need to get passed spawn to cap.

    It doesn't make sense that there is a random road in the middle of a factory.

    The flag building doesn't look like it's part of the factory.

    Although I like the idea, it could be executed a lot better.

    Thats a shame, I worked really hard on this.

    1. I can remove the overhead entrance.

    2. I can remove and move that aswell..

    3. I placed lots of machines, piles of items, fence, cars and shelves to counter this. I beleave I have significantly reduced archers power. Of the 6 birdges, 3 are mostly covered by glass making sniping impossible, and two others have trucks and cars. Also, some prime archer spots are covered by 2 block high walls, making snipping difficult.

    4. Impossibe. Soldier lose energy after awhile and are forced to run a quite while. I thought you said the map was too flat?

    5. That is a good point, however I feel the map is wide enough, and there are 4 enterances to the building away from spawn.

    6. Its sort of an Industrial world were there is nothing but Factories. I feel as if the highway heading through the map makes it feel like a hub.

    Overall, the patcches seem like they can take little time to fix. I will see what other people say before I make additional changes. Thanks @sportyman56

    A soldier can just wait on a high object till it's wall climb refills. There are still a lot of open patches where archer can shoot. Soldiers can just climb on the random objects around.

    2017-01-09_22.08.42.png There's 2 main issues with the spawn:
    1. Its in front of the flagroom - there's literally no point in killing anyone on defence when attacking, since they'll just respawn in front of you, in your path. And, it takes just a couple of seconds to get from the spawn to the flag.
    2. The spawn is right out in the open, so its relatively easy to headshot people coming out.
    Although its a smaller issue, the spawn is also tiny. Since its so open, that's not the end of the world though.

    To fix all this, I'd recommend completely re-locating the spawn. The best place would be in one of the two corners either side of the flag base, as its a reasonably good distance away from the flag.

    Other than the issue with it being behind the spawn, which would be better fixed by moving the spawn, this flagroom is relatively fine. However, it has way too many entrances. I'd recommend removing the entrance at the top, and perhaps one of the other entrances too. Also, add some water in the flagroom or around it.

    This tunnel is going to be a very, very overpowered route. The only entrances to it are behind the flag, and it goes directly from one base to another. If a chemist were to kill all the ninjas and assassins and just took this tunnel, they'd be unstoppable. I'd recommend nerfing the tunnel so it doesn't go all the way from one flag to the other.

    As for the bridges, there's a few issues. Firstly, the middle bridge has almost no cover from archers. This needs to be changed otherwise no-one will be able to cross it. The bridges either side of the bridge in the middle is also rather thin, an engineer would make the bridges impassable.

    Also, the area down below is a nice idea, but I can't see it getting used very much since its so hard to get out of. If you were to go down there with the flag, any defender could easily run to the other side before you're able to get back up and cause you some problems. I'd only ever use the bridges, making the road down the bottom useless. And, the sponges at the bottom usually don't launch the player high enough.

    Some more issues that should probably be fixed, too:
    • The map is incredibly flat, making it look slightly worse, and it makes mage and engineer more OP. Try to find some way to add some sort of variation to it. Like, a highway above the map, for example.
    • Certain places are rather open and would be nice for archer. Add more cover in the places which seem most open.
    • Seems like the bridges will begin to become choke points, as the middle one is incredibly OP for archer and the exits of the other bridges are relatively open. Some more ways to get across would be nice.
    • I think its possible to ghost cap here. Not 100% sure, though.
    • No water, at all. Perhaps add a crashed water truck, spilling water, near one of the bridges that cappers are likely to take. Also, some water in the flagroom would be nice.
    • The walls (on both the perimeter of the map and the walls of the road in the middle) are rather bland.
    That's all the feedback from me. There's quite a few issues with the map, but its definitely possible for these to be worked around. I really like the theme and I think this map has potential, but there's simply too many issues at the moment. -1

    Thank you for the incredible feedback @SoCool21 and @sportyman56

    I expect the map to be completed in several months away as I am now starting school and can't play as often, but here are my planned changes:

    1. Extend factory building along the sides of the map about half way to the highway and allow players players can enter. Somewhat like Tower IV. Spawn will be placed in one corner.

    2. The underground has the stair going back, I'll move them to the right and left respectively so players will need to make a u-turn to get to the flag. I will also add something for defenders to re-access underground around the highway area.

    3. The pedestrian bridges (ones covered in glass to prevent sniping) will be expanded and have some clutter for protection. The main bridge will also be slightly expanded 3 blocks for cars to be placed on as protection from archers

    4. The road on the bottom will be raised roughly 10 blocks. This will make going to the bottom less annoying.

    5. The sides of the map expanding out roughly 10 blocks will be 3 blocks higher than the middle of the map, with ramps for trucks and cars, and to make the map less flat and open.

    This map rocks! Went to the server itself and yeah, I guess it's a little archer and soldier overpowered, but that doesn't have anything to do with the map ITSELF. Soldier and archer are OP on every map XD.

    All with all: I sure hope this map makes it! I'm making an industrial map, too (see Skyrise).
