Ctf staff applications

Personally, I'd like to see staff applications reopened. (Not only so I could apply) As stated above, there are plenty of qualified people, who are more than willing to help out the server.

Anyways... I do believe this prefix and spot should be re-opened in staff applications.
(Not so I can apply, well maybe.) But in general, there isn't really much staff in CTF.
Usually they only come on when a player PM's them or spams /report.

So you didn't think that there could already be too many mods?

Don't want to be rude but 2/3 of the current CTF staff team are either inactive, not involved with the community and don't help moderate at all. I think we should scrap the current CTF moderators except maybe 2-3 and get better people to apply.

 

Xelia got demoted so I don't see the harm in accepting atleast 1 new member for ctf staff.

 

I never understood the whole, having too many moderators thing. Wouldn't having more mods mean more security for the server? If a person is qualified for the position, the number of mods around already shouldn't hamper the chances of a completely qualified applicant.

 

I'm voting 0, which may surprise some. I feel that the problem isn't the number of staff, but more where these staff members are based. CTF has the joint largest staff team on brawl, and yet for hours in the day, there just aren't mods online. This is because every moderator aside from Nohox lives on an American timezone (and he doesn't come in-game anyway). This means we have more than enough moderators to cover American times, but none on European. I'd like to see no overall increase in the number of staff on CTF, but instead a dedicated CTF team who can cover all hours of the day, so that whenever you go on there's a mod who you could potentially contact if something bad were to happen.

If there was a qualified EU candidate right now who actually wanted to do the job, then I'd be more open to that possibility. Fact is, there isn't so I'm not.

 

It's sort of a too many cooks spoil the broth thing in my opinion. Why have more staff than you need? It would be hard for them to all do their job.

 

I'd like to see the staff applications open, but restricted to EU/AU players only. CTF has more than plenty US moderators, now it needs more mods who are available in more EU friendly times

 

Yes to a new ctf mod, if it's an eu based one.
Xelia_ was one of the 2 EU ctf mods and was demoted, would only make sense to me if it would be an EU mod.

@_featherpaw_ US timezones are technically covered, if the mods would be on during that time, which is not something they have to, allow them to have a life outside of CTF.
I would rather see someone be mod on a EU timezone to use more of the Spreadsheet, most matches aren't played before 1pm EST due to:
- no moderator awake before that
- no teams organising matches because ^

I have recently spoken to a few ctf mods and I can generally say they all would like to see an active EU CTF mod on the field, but there is no suitable candidate that really stands out.

You have a point here but in my opinion, the new mod should be located in the EU timezones and not the US.

They have a job to moderate, I've not seen some mods for months and I'm on till 5-6est sometimes. If they don't have the time they should resign and let more capable and active players take their place.

 

Yes, they should be, but there aren't many qualified people that we could think ontop of our heads. Maybe a few, but none of them show interest in moderating the server. We need another EU mod, and if they were to open then it would be heavily restricted to US candidates. Unless they are extremely qualified.

But I believe @_featherpaw_ made this thread because we need US Mods.
Or else why would he make this thread?
The goal of this thread is to hear your opinions and maybe re-open spots for CTF on Staff applications.
But like @JayOG said, and a couple more people, we do indeed need another EU Moderator.

 

Featherpaw is a girl, and her goal was to be able to get an opinion from the community on staff apps for ctf opening again.

 

How I see it is this: We need (an) EU CTF mod(s). I won't deny that. There's a whole block of time where there's no CTF mod available; whether that's to ref matches or just to be online. Like Chaos said, I'd be alright with opening up applications if there was a qualified EU candidate. There really isn't, though.

In my opinion, the ref rank is a great idea. I'd say we'd just need to control who has the rank (i.e. hand select a few players).
