I just move on with it literally. 150+ m.s. on KitPvP, costing me many fights but I don't really put my life on that.
It would be good to have two separate hosts to benefit players from around the globe not you Australia.

Again I have no knowledge about the cost of that but from what others posted it seems to be in-affordable and therefore it's not something Brawl could have.

*Do your research sorry I had to

I guess I didn't really make it clear - I meant it in a sarcastic and ironic way, not some kind of shade.

Like I said, the main benefit of low ping is less KB. The higher ping you have the more delayed your hits are meaning your combos can last longer.

Complaints from players are caused by lag, so the only argument is reducing lag. However, our servers are already hosted in Canada, so there is barely a better location for providing the majority of our playerbase with a good connection.

Our host is OVH, a world-wide cloud computing company with 20 data centers. Wikipedia
I don't think that is an improper host nor is it trash. Low game speed is mostly caused by the code, not the host.
    More technical details: https://www.brawl.com/threads/50765/#post-646871

We are not going to move hosts just because players want it if the reasoning of these players is incorrect and they are unaware of the consequences of a host move.

So are you telling me the only way to reduce the lag is by changing the code? There are virtually no other servers anymore with brawl lag and if they do have it's because they have like 50x more players. Sounds like you need better developers lmao.

That was what I was asking. How do we know that the new host is any better than our current host OVH? How can we have any idea that it is more reliable? Trusting ratings is not an option. It might be a complete waste of time and resources that could be put into something much better.

It is also a fact that if Brawl would be down for three weeks we would loose many of our not so well established players. That is the reason to why changing host is not good for Brawl.

Well maybe if you try it on HG first then you won't run the risk of losing players, like @Admiral_Memesn said, you can't lose players if you don't have any.

Memesn‘s post was still funny. All you do nowadays is flame and I‘d kinda wish you‘d stop, I think @SoCool21 can agree.

I know you are trying to be funny but we do actually average a 100 players. You know perfectly well what my point is.

I know you aren't allowed to have a sense of humor. That's OK dasky ur a cool guy anyway <3

Down from 1,000 two years ago and 400 six months ago.

I do and I agree with it.

Spending a large amount of time, effort, and money (relatively large) to switch hosts when 1) the playercount is much lower than it used to be, 2) Brawl is not, to quote putty, "rolling in money", and 3) what Roke said. 3 weeks of downtime so a few EU people or dudes like me who have **** internet can have a slightly better ping is not worth it. People have been complaining about ping since forever. High ping can happen for all kinds of reasons, not just because Brawl is hosted on a toaster. Deal with it

Not worth a 3 week downtime as it was when hosts were switched in 2014

@Lord_Roke is correct. Any 'lag' players see is NOT the host. It's messy code in our backend that just unfortunately has to be there at this time, otherwise none of our gamemodes would run. It would take a lot of time, effort, and money to get us off of that backend. So while it's something we try to improve on, just report bugs and lag occurrences that happen if reproducible.

    TLDR:
no. There isn't anything better than OVH which is what we use now and what is used by every large Minecraft server that exists beside Hypixel, who probably have their own datacentres at this point.

Commands that will help you decipher between lag or gamespeed

    • /ping - This shows YOUR connection to the server. This is where the host comes in.
    • /lag - This shows "code related" lag. 97% - 100% is where we aim to be.
