    Hello beloved CTF community

I'm writing this thread to bring attention to the issue of not enough US CTF mods/staff.
One admin, one smod, four mods and two jmods can't possibly be enough US-american staff for our server.
EU obviously has enough mods with Nohox being the only one active (besides SoCool who isn't really CTF staff specifically) after Xelia got demoted/resigned (whatever, I don't even remember) almost a year ago.
That there has been no other european CTF player to become jmod and replace xelia obviously means that a second european CTF is not needed, especially since there were 3 US players who got promoted after Xelia left.
I can't speak for the east asian/australian part of our community, but I imagine that they probably never ever really needed a mod.
This leaves us with US american mods, and, as we can see, the demand for them seems to be rising (although some resignations were obviously of US staff too), both in the amount of applications submitted and accepted.
But I firmly believe that 8 US mods for CTF are not enough, I think the american playerbase deserves more mods.
I hope even more US people can get accepted so the american playerbase which surely outnumbers the european one 8:1 gets represented better.
Threads like this one are certainly rigged and outdated anyway since there were two EU mods back then.

    Thanks.

This is no criticism to the mods currently applying or recently having been accepted

Tbh, I agree here, due to the situation being like this atm:
    - we have a lot of people who tend to do bad stuff in chat (e.g. racism/flame and etc)
    - some interesting people (@Proterozoic tagged here for more information and he should know about this xD)
    - mods from other gamemodes are most likely not as experienced as CTF regulars

Note that this all happens during the time where the US mods are sleeping or getting ready for whatever they have to do in their life, while in comparison the EU people are going home or are already at home.

I feel forgotten, I was active and EU and on at extremely early and late times because I have no life :frowning:. I generally think we need more staff from each timezone with an actual activity that is adaptable to peak times and able to adjust to later and earlier times while being in-game throughout the day to support with staff related jobs not just CTF Team scene related.

You make a good point but what do you want brawl to do about it? They can't force EU and AU players to apply for staff.

nothing. He's bringing attention to an issue so that *maybe* more EU people to apply for staff so that all the timezones are covered

iirc, both times you applied was for KitBrawl, with you stating that it's the server you're most active on, but yes, I know, you were active in CTF related stuff as well.
Tbh I considered mentioning you too, but then I could've mentioned SoCool, Rhoske, Jay ( & minesheep?) as well, which are all - although very familiar with CTF - not CTF mods. (which'd make it 9:3:1)
Agree on the other things you said, although that can be very demandful at times.

insert streamlined requirements thread of @Admiral_Mas0n

Sure, you can't force players to be mods. What you can do though is to encourage them.
If you were a big company lacking workes of type A, but having (fairly) enough workers of type B, you would be looking for them, not just letting applications of any type in, fully knowing that about 9 out of 10 are from type B. (No, I'm not suggesting to lock US applications completely, as of right now though - highly generalising - adding one EU/AU mod might benefit the gamemode more than adding two US mods)

That too. It isn't as if I don't hope that anything gets done by brawl/the current staff team. I'd love to see the staff team act.

:^) . I'm absolutely certain that we have enough european players fully capable of being good mods. I just think most of them don't want to be or some might even be afraid to apply.

I mainly made this thread because it's been quite a while since we last had two 'real' CTF mods (sorry @Removers , I hope it's clear how I meant it) but there are still quite a lot of US mods and US people currently applying.
I'd really love if this became sort of a brainstorm thread, despite me starting the thread quite sarcastically (I just like that, sorry.)

Although I personally think I wouldn't be a bad mod, the requirements of brawl regarding activity are quite high and I know it can be quite a frustrating and time-consuming job to do, especially if you want to do it well. I could go more into detail why I don't really consider applying, but to put it short:
Activity too low, enough other stuff to do IRL (or at least other stuff I should do), lack of experience, lack of knowledge and there are other, more qualified persons in the european scene.

Regarding activity of some of the current mods, that seems to not be a very important factor to brawl staff. Not to name any names tho.

True regarding current mods just as you said. And that's - somewhat- sad.
I think applicants are being judged by another standard. And that standard may be too high, as last time I've read some requirements, properly doing your job on brawl would mean signing up for a 20%-30% job. I do voluntary work in my spare time too and I really like it. But it almost never gets above 20%.
(Yes I know it's a strange comparison, but if you really expect mods to be online every day of the week for at least one hour a day, idk man, just seems a lil much. Sure it's a theoretical number, but... Maybe that could be lowered to better represent actual hours mods are willing to spend/are spending currently without completely leaving IRL duties in a mess)
    Who knows?
    There's a reason I emphasised it's work I should do haha
(But yes, different school/education systems might play a huge part too, or at least that's what I've heard from the people I know which were on an exchange year in the US [and got fat])

Despite the requirements stating staff members should be online every day and at least one hour a day, I've seen some staff members that haven't logged on for two or three days. However, I don't see this as a huge problem because the servers haven't been that active this week. I don't think that guideline is very strict because you don't need to be on every single day for 1 hour, you can miss a few days here and there.

totally agreed, it happening isn't a huge problem (as long as it's not almost totally inactive), but the requirement is still there.
As said, I'd like to see realistic numbers of staff members to be put there or more clearly said that these requirements aren't as black-n-white as they may appear on first sight. Because there were threads in which such stuff was discussed, but never really fully integrated/mentioned in the requirements themselves.

And oops I think we got off-topic a little bit.
Any ideas to get more EU/AU-players to apply?
