Lol, I am great at remembering facts and details that interest me. I could see why you would presume that I was using copy and paste. I hold nothing against you for presuming that I was using copy and paste.
Iosif, it's just kinda a random thought I had one night on holiday at a Mexican restaurant. Tacos tend to give me idealistic views about quantum mechanics and the passage of time ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
(1212: Castle of Bran in modern-day Romania is built by Teutonic Knights). Yes I'm now doing historical stuff based on the profile post number.
Curious, I wonder what's the point of life anyways. Nothing about it is fun nor enjoyable. Some day you will encounter sadness no matter what ways you could use to attempt to ride over them. Fun or enjoyment is merely temporary cure to what lies.
This? Just a person who figures the meaning of life is just life itself.
@MikuWaifu Dissatisfaction is the cornerstone of our life. It is what drives us to do things. It is what drives us to gather food, have sex, achieve new things, and ultimately, continue to live. With our great conquest over the mind we were freed from the slavery of the moment.
We were the first species to truly think seriously of the past, present, and future. Since we were no longer chained to the thought of only the present, we began looking to the past and future. Looking to the past, we grew dissatisfied with how we did things and looking to future we grew dissatisfied with what we could achieve.
Dissatisfaction is what drives the human race forward. Dissatisfaction is what drives us to change the world around us. Dissatisfaction is what drives us to make a better future. Dissatisfaction always follows satisfaction; we will always be dissatisfied for as long as we live. Dissatisfaction could then be said to be the meaning of our lives; it driving us to do everything that has meaning to us.
Dissatisfaction likely does not make itself known in other species likely because they have no drive to improve on what they did on the past or to create something for the future. They live only in the moment, enjoying life in the moment and suffering in the moment. They do not care of what they have done or what they will do. Survival is all that permeates their existence.
Imagine a life without dissatisfaction. If you were not dissatisfied with what may come in the future, why would you go to school? If you were not dissatisfied with your surroundings, why would you clean? If one was not dissatisfied with the current state of human technological progress, why would one innovate and invent?
By continuing to live, you doom yourself to encounter dissatisfaction again and again. Dissatisfaction being why you care for the situation of loved ones; them being in pain will dissatisfy you. Death, then, could be said to be Nirvana. An existence with no more dissatisfaction.
Dissatisfaction is good for the advance and development of society but is harmful for the happiness of an individual. It really depends what you want: a developed and advanced society or a happy and content society.
But couldn't the dissatisfaction of the individual which leads to a more advanced society cause the people in said society to experience a greater degree of happiness?
In the words of Qualitative Utilitarianist John Stuart Mill, "No intelligent human being would consent to be a fool, even though they should be persuaded that the fool, the dunce, or the rascal is better satisfied with his lot than they are with theirs."
(In case it wasn't clear, just about all of my posts speaking to Iosif is just me playing devil's advocate. :V I don't actually adhere to the views that I seem to project in my conversation with him. I'm just trying to figure out what is in his head. :V)
Well yes, it should go without saying that dissatisfaction brings about the development of a society in which more people will be satisfied and happy, but dissatisfaction will always remain in some way, shape, or form.
Also, of course nearly no intelligent person would consent to being a fool despite their knowledge that the fool is constantly in a state of bliss and happiness; the very thought of consenting to it hurts the ego and pride of the intelligent person's current self. When he becomes a fool that knows nothing; he will cease to care about it.
The thought of being stupid, clueless, and just generally a fool is something that scares the person that is currently aware. However, upon becoming a clueless fool, he will cease to be aware, leaving him no care of this lack of awareness. Much like death scares us, we likely have nothing to fear of it since we won't be there to experience it.
STFU.
PLEASE.
