Any actual legit reasons for Freeday "Noobday" Friday?

So you're aware that your entire point is incredibly selfish. Because it is. It really is.

That's really all I have to say about the topic, by the way. If you want freeday removed, post actual points and evidence towards what makes freeday removable and we'll have an argument then. As long as the only point you'll make is that it's 'irritating' to have to kill noobs (the horror), you are going to continue to look like a selfish player who wants something changed because it's a slight inconvenience and not actually game breaking.

As it stands right now, the evidence towards the continued implimentation of freeday is thus: it's intended to allow players a chance to experience a class without having to buy it first, and simultaneously test that class against all the other classes that are out in abundance. Not only that, but even without numerical statistics, the very fact that the freeday has been implimented and has REMAINED implimented for nearly the entire time CTF has been active speaks volumes to the effectiveness of it, by virtue alone. If freeday did not work, it would have been removed quickly, as mcpvp was a buisness first and foremost. Even if it works as a loss leader, it still proved valuable enough to the company that it remained as a feature for four years running.

Not only that, clearly a large majority of players find freeday entertaining, as you go on any Friday you'll see more players on than any other day of the week. Why remove such a large playerbase's idea of fun to suit some guy who doesn't like waiting until past 7:00 (at least in my time zone) to play on a friday.

So, what can YOU bring to the table as evidence against freeday, evidence that, to paraphrase your own words, cannot be easily refuted?

 

So people can test out kits and see if they want to buy them.
You are probably more likely to buy a kit you understand, or that you KNOW you like, so you can play it throughout the week.

It is like test driving a car I would imagine.

First of all, that's totally stupid that you want new people not to try out new classes so you can just cap. That was a totally mean and rude comment to say. Also, the new people should get used to the new classes so they know if they like it or not. I know that brawl will keep Freeday Friday.

I don't understand your reasoning for a test, there's really no reason to test something like this as its basic economics and quite frankly, common sense. If you put a test object forward, people are more likely to buy the actual products. That's why they give free samples at wholesale markets(cough Costco cough). You have been given firsthand anecdotal evidence earlier, which is really the best way to show the impact of freeday. I myself picked my first class based on freeday, and if I hadn't been allowed to test the classes, I'd be less willing to obtain a class.

Anyways, freeday is great and is really helpful, and even the mcpvp staff in the past(wiki) has stated how freeday is helpful.

Truth is, I actually tried out all the premium classes except elf (I preordered it) on freeday. That's probably what happened to a lot of other players with lots of premium classes. I personally just practice my archery on freedays since its hard to cap in that day. Like others said, if you don't like to play on freeday, just play something else.

 

Oh well. At first I didn't insult you. Secondly trying to make a comeback by correcting their grammar is one of the stupidest things you can do. Just accept that your idea is garbage and so are you.

I personally never play on Friday, sometimes I do when I forget it's noobday.
But you gotta think, when you were new to the server yourself you actually found noobday useful for
trying out the classes and getting used to them, and see if you're interested in buying them.

I don't know about you but I personally used to cherish noobday and that's how I learned CTF and was
convinced to buying the classes.

Freeday Friday allows people to play and try out new classes that they might otherwise not have had a chance to play, meaning it is vital for fun and profit. However, the fact that such a large majority of the community is annoyed or simply don't play by the arrival of Freeday Friday is just proof that many of the premium classes are overpowered, annoying, and/or unbalanced, obviously calling for a change of some sort, which will probably never arrive. Blame the current state of the classes, not the event, as in a balanced game, having anyone be able to play any class should be fine and viable, which is of course not the case in CTF.

 

Yeah, freeday has it's pros and cons, pro being incentive, con being lag and an engineer filled game. But, the pro outweighs the cons, as an irritated person could just go onto a less populated server, we have four of them.

 

Personally I don't think it's the classes itself that get annoying on freeday, it's the amount they are used. The fact that some classes are premium is not only a feature to earn money from the server, it's also a game balancer. Two or three engineers of one team are easy to handle, but imagine a dozen of them on a map, especially the pre-rework engineers. That would be hellish. This is why most premium classes aren't suited to be available for free, restricting classes to being premium limits overuse of it. In low numbers they are fine and balanced, which is not given on a freeday.

Yet (in my personal opinion) premium classes are still balanced enough to make Fridays playable, otherwise there would have been many more complaints and freeday would have probably been taken out by now.

 

what part of the game are you playing the requires you to kill nothing. if you plan to go into a ctf game with the mindset of capping/defending/recovery without actually killing anything then you are going to have a hard time

 

We already said the benefits of freeday. So we should keep it. End of question.

 

It's not that we've listed benefits, it's that he's not listed any viable and debatable downsides.

 

To be honest, there is no difference when I'm capping on Free-day than any other day. Also your just really being rude to the new people here and your also being very rubbish for creating this thread. We were all fine in Mcpvp and now that CTF is in Brawl. We want all these changes. Friday-Friday is a keeper
