Idea Necro Rework - Screw AI, Do It Yourself

    EDIT: Thank you @Admiral_Munson for your great feedback. I made some changes to the rework that you might find better. Sorry I didn't choose to add the Spider idea, it just seemed to me that it would end up too much like Soldier or Ninja or would otherwise be too boring and weak if it stayed away from being similar to those classes.

    Nearly every Necro rework I have seen so far involves keeping a dependency on mob AI, which, in my opinion, is quite stupid. Why depend on a ****ty AI when you can do it yourself? That's right, take your monster's abilities and use them yourself. Each form has different abilities, minions, and items.

    Human Form:
    1. Armor: same armor as current Necro.
    2. Weapon: Iron Sword.
    3. Special form item: Diamond Pickaxe to break Engineer turrets.
    4. Special form buffs/debuffs: none.
    5. Special form ability: none.
    6. Steak: 4-6 steak (steak stays through all forms, you cannot get more steak in one form which you can use to heal yourself).
    7. Minion: none.
    8. Monster egg for each form.
    Zombie Form:
    1. Armor: same armor as Human Form.
    2. Weapon: Iron Sword.
    3. Special form item: Rotten Flesh to restore health.
    4. Special form buffs/debuffs: Resistance I (Necro takes 20% less damage) and Slowness I.
    5. Special form ability: each enemy you kill grants you a piece of Rotten Flesh, taking up your special form item slot. Heals as much as steak (or less if found to be too powerful).
    6. Same steak.
    7. Minion: a Zombie that follows you and moves at your speed, unless in combat, in which it follows and attacks the enemy you last attacked, perfect for distracting enemies in combat. Respawns 5 seconds after changing form and 10 seconds after it dies (cannot respawn in combat).
    8. Monster egg for each form (with Zombie spawn egg being replaced with Villager spawn egg to denote Human Form).
    Skeleton Form:
    1. Armor: same armor as Human Form.
    2. Weapon: Iron Sword.
    3. Special form item: Bow with Punch II, and Infinity I (with an arrow, of course).
    4. Special form buffs/debuffs: Speed I.
    5. Special form ability: each successful bow hit (not counting minion's bow hits) grants your bow a level of Power (up to level III-V) and takes away a level of Punch for 5 seconds. Punch may become negative level so as to pull the victim of the arrow towards the Necro. For each negative Punch level, the Necro's sword gains a level of Sharpness for 5 seconds (up to level III-V).
    6. Same steak.
    7. Minion: a Skeleton that follows you and moves at your speed, even in combat, in which it follows you and shoots the enemy (might be changed so it can't shoot while you are moving to prevent kiting in PvP) you last attacked, perfect for ranged support. Respawns 5 seconds after changing form and 10 seconds after it dies (cannot respawn in combat).
    8. Monster egg for each form (with Skeleton spawn egg being replaced with Villager spawn egg to denote Human Form).
    Enderman Form:
    1. Armor: same armor as Human Form.
    2. Weapon: Iron Sword.
    3. Special form item: Enderpearl to teleport.
    4. Special form buffs/debuffs: none.
    5. Special form ability 1: for every 5-10 hearts of damage you inflict, you get an enderpearl.
    6. Special form ability 2: each time you use an enderpearl (not counting enderpearls from special form ability 2), you take 3-5 hearts of damage upon teleporting, but have enough regeneration II after teleporting to fully heal the damage you took (regeneration time does not stack, so if you enderpearl right after a previous enderpearl, you will lose some healing time).
    7. Special form ability 3: each time you go below a certain amount of health (probably 3 hearts), you instantly get thrown 10-15 blocks straight up into the air (probably keeping you safe from the enemies below you) and gain an enderpearl (while leaving an endermite or two below you). If you throw an enderpearl while in the air, the teleportation will deal no damage. You will not take fall damage upon landing, as some may wish to return to battle or the enderpearl may take too long to land.
    8. Same steak.
    9. Minion: an Endermite that follows you and moves at your speed, unless in combat, in which it follows and attacks the enemy you last hit, perfect to annoy the enemy and to cause some distraction and damage. Respawns 5 seconds after changing form and 5 seconds after it dies (can respawn in combat).
    10. Monster egg for each form (with Enderman spawn egg being replaced with Villager spawn egg to denote Human Form).
    Final Notes:
    1. There is a cooldown before being able to change forms again, this cooldown requires your minion to be alive (meaning you can change forms in combat, but only if your minion is alive).
    2. More forms can be added or decided on. Give me some suggestions, as well as a base for it.
    3. Everything in this post is most definitely not final (probably not even close) and is very liable to change, feedback is accepted, encouraged, and appreciated. Feel free to bump this thread for me!

    Necro is supposed to be a defensive class. This is more of an offensive class.

    But, Despite all that, I really like this idea. However, I think that this could become a seperate class, rather than a change to necro.

    It's not supposed to be a defensive class. It can play wherever it wants.

    I like it, it takes the Elf/Mage road but it is still unique enough to be a cool and much more fun rework.

    I feel the rotten flesh and enderpearls could be a bit op. I also don't like the idea of punch on the bow. Other than that I view this as way more engaging than the current Necro.

    @Webmant I have to give you some props, this is easily the most creative Necro rework I've seen and beats the hell out of mine in that department.

    General thoughts:

    The mob forms is a very interesting idea. The downside to it is that it makes the mobs a little useless (like currently) - I got that impression from the title and from the rework - although you are playing the role of a mob. The upside is this rework forces Necro to get more involved in combat, which I really liked.

    Thoughts on the forms:

    The human form: I don't understand the need for the pickaxe since Necro is not Engineer's primary counter and it seems pretty pointless to have a single form dedicated to destroying Engineer turrets. Other than that it seems pretty straightforward.

    The zombie form: I liked this one a lot. The only thing that seemed a little off was the rotten flesh because that could become OP in a hurry.

    The skeleton form: Skeletons are pretty damn near useless imo. The minions are weaker than the zombies in terms of damage dealt and changing to this form as Necro seems to make you weaker (take 20 to 40% more damage) and it doesn't make a lot of sense to me why you'd take this form when the Enderman and Zombie forms are far more powerful.

    I'd strongly suggest changing this into something else, perhaps a Spider form. Spiders are far more mobile and speedy than Skeletons and are more useful in combat.

    The enderman form: I liked the Enderman form too. It's the most creative one by far and has some really interesting abilities incorporated into it. The only problem I had with it was the mechanic that throws an enderpearl in a random direction if you're at low health. This seemed a little bit derpy to me because it leaves too much up to chance. What happens if the pearl lands in the middle of a group of enemies? Do you just die? And do you die as well if the pearl goes off the edge of the map?

    Since the pressure for a Necro rework is mounting, I feel that now is a good time to bump this thread and to get some more feedback and attention.

    I logged in JUST to comment/like this post...

    I've started playing mcctf around 4 years ago, and Necro was the first class I purchased. At the time, It was pretty easy to get to blazes in a game regardless of if you played offensively or defensively. Now, however getting one mob kill is a feat of its own.

    I've read though and thought of a LOT of different Necro rework ideas, but this might be the best I've ever seen.

    I'm totally in support of this amazing idea!
