    So is soldier. It didn't take me long to figure out that spamming block made me look like I was flyhacking and made it impossible to recover off of me. Mage is kind of easy to play for newbies, but doing anything that's not midfeilding is much more challenging. Try capping on a decent defense as mage. Not easy.

    Because soldier can get a 30+ KS easily. Nobody is talking about Capping as mage, that doesn't matter. Mage is too easy.

    That's like saying Chemist is bad because it can't instakill, just because Mage is bad at capping doesnt mean its not easy to use at everything else.

    Well technically the game ended, I think I got about ~92 of those kills before I died, and I only died because I followed a heavy into an enclosed space.

    Anyways, to argue why Mage isn't balanced, I'm going to use an analogy. If you're familiar with the competitive scene of Super Smash Bros. Melee (SSBM), you know that Fox is considered the best character in the game, at the very top of top tier. However, Fox is also widely considered the most difficult character to master. He has the most techs you need to know to be able to play him at a high level. According to the Mage "skill" argument, this should make Fox not a top tier character, right? I mean, he's so difficult to learn, and takes a lot of tech skill to play, that means he must not be the best character in the game! Do the tier list creators care about that? No. You can't use its skill floor to argue for a class' balance, @RHCube. It's a non-factor. The same goes for Chemist, @N00bs.

    What matters for balance purposes is not the amount of skill required to reach high level play, but the results after you reach high level play. Once you've mastered Mage, you are untouchable if you so choose. Good Mages die because they get too reckless. If you choose to play cautiously as Mage, it is ridiculously easy to just never die.

    Mage isn't too great for CTF purposes because of the cooldown on its health pool, but I don't think there's a single class that can beat Mage 1v1. As a result, Mage suffers from an unusual situation, it's incredibly OP while also being incredibly useless. I think Mage needs to be nerfed in 1v1 strength but be given more ability to play the roles of CTF.

    Can we get back to unpopular opinions now plz????

    I agree that the knock back can be taken down to 0 for everything except damage and 1/2 second can be added to the flame and damage spells. But I can't see a major nerf happening to Mage without removing the class due to it being entirely useless.

    Sounds like we're talking about giving Mage iron armor, taking knock back down to 0, and making the heal spell regeneration I. Possibly also removing freeze spell.

    This is a flame war?

    Do you guys even know that there's a word for a flame war that's not flaming? It's called a 'discussion', or maybe even an 'argument'. Believe it or not, not every argument on the internet is a flame war.

    I define flame war as some people hating on a class and then others, who presumably play the class, defend the hate.

    Obviously there are much worse cases of a flame war throughout the internet, but in terms of CTF, a class being attacked constitutes a flame war for me.

    Again, that's not a flame war. A flame war is an argument that has turned from topic-based arguments into non-stop ad homs. Otherwise it's just an argument/discussion.

    Pavos academy is a good engi map, I don't think it's that bad :stuck_out_tongue:

    Standoff is way too soldier op, when they have the flag they spam wall climb on the ceiling Of the flag room

    Hahahaha. Large hall, Beaver Creek, Walrus Creek, Medieval Siege(the map by Mizz) and River Crossing are bad maps. Yeah its soldier, any flagroom with a non coal ore ceiling can be climbed, but it would be a dumb strat because enemy pyro,mage and elf can shoot him down, even soldier recover off him.. That is unless he has 7 medics and an engineer tower by him. Lol this game

    To be quite honest, mage needs the knockback off of its damage spell removed. It's next to impossible to even get close to a mage, if you strafe them outm and make one mistake. You are practically dead considering mage knocks you back a few blocks. I have pretty much given up on fighting mages as I can't even get close enough to toss a poison at them.

    If the knockback was removed then mage wouldn't stand a chance against classes like ninja and heavy.
