I'm pretty sure he's no Budokkan. He's not posting "bats" in his Twitter feed.

 

Not my point, although I apologize for making it seem like I'm comparing him to that thing.

It's just an odd promotion and, as much as I'm happy for him, I'm still going to be critical, if not only slightly, of the circumstance.

Oh, and I disliked how he implied that people who were critical weren't good people. Criticizm doesn't automatically mean a rejection to change, mcpvp'ers of all people should know best that we're critical of ALL new things because we love the game mode, and not because we hate outsiders and changes.

 

Striker, you have to understand that we're concerned about someone who probably hasn't played more than 3 hours of CTF.

 

He's played a lot more CTF than that.

I played CTF over 3 years ago (or something like that) and when it came to Brawl, I didn't play it too much. But I still know a lot about it. I think you should give him a chance.

 

You know something about it. I know something about MC-War. But does that mean I should get Mod on MC-War just because I'm a Moderator on another server? No, I have no idea how to moderate MC-War. I don't agree with the promotion, but Alg does deserve a chance because he's a nice guy.

 

He is a CTF mod because the SGG servers are down. He didn't simply "ask" for the promotion out of the blue. It's just like how Nxy got promoted to Kitpvp mod because survival is down.

 

I know that. CTF is a whole different situation than KitBrawl. I don't want to argue about this. Whatever you say won't convince me. However, I think Alg deserves a chance, and I'm willing to give it to him. He's done nothing so far to make me think he needs to be demoted.

 

I would understand making him an HG mod. Maybe even an Mc-War mod. But CTF? That's an entire different animal. There is no similarity between the two gamemodes apart from them being minecraft, PvP, and having kits. Oh wait, CTF has classes.

 

It's a logical decision by Raven, since CTF a large amount of hackers and Alg has played it in the past.

 

Lol, and here I here I thought all the brawl mods were mods on CTF too.

 

If your experience is all from three years ago, you'd be ill-suited to moderate it now. Surprisingly, things have changed. Classes were added, mechanics were tweaked, and the team system is a major responsibility for CTF mods that you'd be unfamiliar with at this point.
As far as hackers go, if that was truly the reasoning for it, Raven/Cuddled should have promoted Alg to mod, instead of just giving him 60 minute kicks on another server.

 

Yeah, but... Mods do more than catch hackers.

 

He was given a server since his initial servers are down.

Also, it's not like I don't play it, just that I play it scarcely. I'm still aware of the updates/protocols, and I know what hacks are. (I'm in a team too)

Exactly! That's why mods should only be promoted from experience and spending time on a gamemode. As Hana said, the team scene is a huge part of being a moderator. Nothing against Alg, but he has no involvement in it. I hope he can get involved in it, but he shouldn't be moderating without having experienced any of it.

 

Ok. You do realize knowing hacks and knowing what updates happened is not a full qualification for being CTF mod? I think that given Alg's little to no involvement in CTF teams and his overall relative inactivity in the CTF community, I don't think he's fit for CTF Jmod. Catching hackers is a small part of being a CTF mod, and as a Jmod, he can't even ban them for more than an hour. He's a great guy, but I don't think he's fit for the job.

 

So, since you claim to know them all - what are the requirements?
Maybe if you stated this rather than show absence of constructive criticism, you would contribute to his improvement to serve you and the community better?
