The Soldier Nerf: because nobody else is bringing it up

    I'm including recovery yes. Soldier can make it 10% of the time.

    I just want to point out that Assassin's defining ability is the Redstone, which it can use ONCE every 20 seconds. Just because a class had one defining ability doesn't mean it shouldn't have a cooldown. This is a bit of an extreme, but imagine Assassin had infinite Redstone. In the same way, Soldier's defining ability still shouldn't be infinite.

    Now I don't play nearly as much Soldier as I used to, and I certainly haven't touched it much since the update (I did for a bit, but mostly to check out the new mechanics), but I used to be an avid Soldier main. A good Soldier shouldn't just abuse walls at all times. Even before the nerf, as Soldier I would mostly stick to the ground, climbing to get situational advantages or to get above the flag (like on Blackout). The Soldier is basically a weaker Heavy without Wall-Climbing. You're still a fairly competent class without Wall-Climbing. You deal half a heart less damage than Heavy, and you only block 60% of incoming damage, opposed to the Heavy's 80%. You're the third Tankiest class in the game. With your 4 Steak, you can survive around 65 Hearts worth of non-true damage.

    Soldier was overpowered, and the nerf was justified. Infinite climbing allowed Soldiers to swoop into flag rooms and take it ez and get out. Especially with Pyro's nerf, it's going to be even harder to stop them. Now the Soldier can't just climb their way out of any situation.

    @1337Noooob I will note that assassin's instakill is in itself an extreme which rightfully has a cooldown, though that's beside the point.

    Not beside the point, however, is that I agree with you in that mobility should be limited. Ninja has its health to deal with, allowing no more than four pearls while traveling quickly; don't even get me started on the limits of elf especially with the mobility nerf (will be making a thread on this, please no one steal that from me :c ); now soldier, while greatly limited relative to its previous ability, has been justified in its ability.

    HOWEVER, (@Nightowl) this is a new point I'd like to address which I haven't seen anyone mention so far: now that soldier's wall climb is so limited, elf's earth element is now a HARD counter to soldier. While it was upsettingly useless before, I believe it's now even more of a weapon of annoyance than it was before--and both being not a soldier and being an elf gives me every bit of room to say that.

    In my Elf rework idea that I posted as a comment, I've given Elf 16 arrows and kept the 2 Arrow cost for Wind Element. You can probably increase the cost for Earth Element Arrows as well. Do you think that would help balance Soldier?

    Ehh, the thing is is that it's premium, most people don't have it. But if wind element was unlimited, I would have no problem with it. Flying off of maps and starting a survival series on ctf @LordChaos_92
