Assassin Placeholders

Those were bugs and have been fixed.

 

Okay, nice to know. I haven't played CTF much recently so I wasn't sure.

 

Glasspanes are annoying af

 

I agree People now can just look at you and your glass pane and know that you don't have red stone to assassinate them. Being a player who understands assassin and the way it works, I hate the place holders. good point @UnStrikeDefy

 

You shouldn't be holding slot 2 as Assassin unless you have your Redstone. Right clicking Redstone automatically puts you to slot 1, so unless you switch to Glass Pane beforehand you won't ever have to show the enemy a glass pane unless you want to. And you can actually pull off some fakes by holding the Speed Boost Glass Panes and switching to the Redstone when enemies think you have no Redstone.

 

Yes but in certain scenarios of a game you will probaly need to have the redstone ready beforehand to assassinate on time. If your not quick enough you will die.... Good points though @1337noob I only think about desperate situations...

 

I use your texture pack, and yeah, doing that would be awesome

However, whatever happens, half of the community will be please, while others aren't. If Nom keeps making updates according to what people want, CTF might not be anywhere near as popular, because the other half of the community ill not like it.
@1337Noooob and a few others requested this glass pane thing, and like it now it's in play. Personally I don't mind either way.

 

To be honest I didn't actually request glass panes. My rework idea just replaced the Redstone with ANOTHER Iron Sword (so the Assassin would have two Swords). At the time, I did this because I didn't realize the game could switch your selected item in the hotbar. But maybe having the Sword still there is a good idea, because it allows you to not telegraph your actions to the enemy while still giving you placeholders. Maybe this Sword Placeholder should also be applied to the Speed Boost as well.

Basically, giving the Assassin Iron Swords for Placeholders instead of Glass Panes might make the class work better. It'll look weird having Iron Swords in three of your item slots, but it might be for the best.

 

I agree. Swords are a much better placeholder than Glass Panes. This means the Assassin remains the same for other people while being streamlined for the people actually playing the class. It'll take time to relearn the keys, but we can adapt.

 

Lets make new ctf server with no placeholders!!!!!!!

 

There is one aspect I really like about the placeholders, while I didn't really care for the others. It is now impossible to get your hotbar messed up by the flag as it can't take up a slot that is soon going to get refilled. Before, the flag would possibly block the second slot of the hotbar when you were run out of steak and prematurely pearling ninjas would usually find the ender pearl in the fifth slot after stealing.

It's mostly a thread about placeholders. It also affects you if you steal as Assassin (if you do).

 

Going for Assassin caps is really fun unless the enemy team has a lot of good Ninjas. Then GG.
