Mage Hate

Woah woah it takes no skill to killstreak with most classes. Mage happens to take negative skill. However, doing something useful like capturing takes quite a bit more technique and practice, unlike soldier which takes absolutely 0.

Most steak (best armor to steak ratio of any class used in matches) and the ability to regen hearts on it's own..

not to mention the infinite number of webs..

 

I learned the class in an hour, and took another hour to become fairly decent at it. A couple months ago I got a 43 killstreak with it, which I've only gone over 40 once, maybe twice with archer.

 

There are a few really good mages and like most classes it takes time to be a master at it, but from a non-mage pov it seems relativley easy to become good at. Like Bran said, in matches they are mainly used to go after archers or roam midfield. I feel like most mages just spam damage spell around or chase people (especially archers) around the map. I find it annoying as an assassin or archer or any other weaker armoured class to be bombarded with damage spells, and when u finally think you are safe they freeze you and start spamming again. Mage is also annoying when you have flag and are getting spammed with damage ( rather than being freezed which is actually a tactical thing to-do) its not very effective on offence or defence (unless u actually take the time to use all spells tactically) and for all the people who say its weak in pvp, on an open map have fun getting to it, while avoiding all the other classes attacking u, and on small enclosed areas a mage can easily counter pvp by spamming damage at you and keeping you back (just like a bowspamming archer) and in areas like VoR underground passage to flag room it is extremely annoying. This (like dwarf) is another class i can go on and on about

 

Gee maybe mages hate being instakilled just as much as you hate being spammed by damage spell. I mean they're the most powerful aspects of each class. Maybe if Nom removed the most utilized item/ability for each class, everyone'd stop complaining

Maybe you should stop ticking off mages
Or at least do it so they don't notice your location and have reason to come visiting.

And let that pesky medic restore all your team's hard work or buying precious seconds to let support reach the carrier? That's just harming the mage's team rather than being beneficial. At least spamming damage gives you a chance to kill the carrier before support gets there.

Gee I wonder what mage can essentially instakill. Oh yeah ninjas right after they pearl. Oh what do ya know, they can also check for invisible ninjas without discarding a precious 2 second drawback to scan for ninjas. Hey look, they can also shoot soldiers midair

Gee its almost as if mages have eyes in the back of their heads or a rearview mirror mod(@Shelbzb00). I don't know anyone who plays mage while constantly shifting PoV midpvp and still managing to survive.

Oh boy its almost as if mage's damage spell has aimbot! Oh wait.

Yes you could go on and on about mage, but so could I :/

 

Valid arguments, i take it we are on opposite sides when it comes to mage and its tendencies

 

I'm not disagreeing that soldier takes no skill. I'm saying that no class has a "high learning curve".

If anything, your "skill" is dependent on knowledge of maps, which also takes about 2 minutes per map.

 

i main mage and i suck so it actually does take time, most people have an issue with it being like a walking turret and infinite healthpool

also using only spells 1 and 5 is stupidly effective

 

Finally, someone said exactly what I would have said, except I'm too lazy because I know there are a bunch or arrogant people out there.....

 

OK, Let me barge into this please. Ok first of all, the people who complain about mages all the (curse word inserted here) time are not even mage mains. They are claiming that Mage is OP because of what they have seen in Regular CTF. NOW, Regular CTF is not Competitive CTF, because there aren't randies who come straight for you all the time. And the fact that people say it is easy to master is because they aren't dealing with the people in Competitive CTF as mage mains.

I have never seen really anyone go mage when they aren't mage mains in matches, so it basically means that mage is not easy. AGAIN let me say this again! The people who hate mage so much don't really main it at all and they only play it during Regular CTF matches. Why? Because Competitive CTF is way harder than just Regular CTF, because there aren't randies running after you, but there are people who know what they are doing and they know how to counter mages. So it means that if you try going mage in a match, and go on offense, you might be killed instantly if you do not know what your are doing.

Exactly, and that means that if someone were to walk into the opponent's flag room during a match, will it be easy like people say it would be, because if they call mage an easy class and OP, then they should be able to do defend themselves against the whole defense which is full of ninjas, pyro, medic, am I not right?

 

Mages don't annoy me at all and I strongly agree with this forum. I have no idea why this hate has come. People are just jealous of how you know how to control it. And I totally agree with @TheEliteBanshee
