Idea soldier should have to hit enemies to charge wallclimb

    yeah but, that's the entire point of soldier. Soldier has to be able to sustain it's movement ability by itself. I agree that the exp bar needs changing (because I can't fawkin recov off a soldier who goes from ground to up in laike 2 seconds), but I don't think requiring them to damage people is the solution. That would pretty much just nerf soldier to the ground (l0l).


    Either that or rework the entire ability, which probably isn't happening.

    Obi I know muffles can have a hard time seeing other people's points of view but I don't think you needed to repeat your entire response twice in a row!

    this is just one suggestion for how it'd need changing, and i agree that it's pretty OP right now. however, i don't think your earlier suggestion of moving around would help either, as that can be achieved while the soldier is still out of range.

    short of a complete rework (which won't happen, as you said), this is the best easy mechanic i can think of. issue is, people in this thread seem to be saying that soldier is fine as it is (which it clearly isn't), so the argument becomes "soldier is not OP, this isn't needed" as opposed to "yeah, soldier's OP, but here's a different suggestion" - which is preferable, if only people could see past their main class bias.

    and, i'll state again, the amount of hits needed have not been specified. whether or not soldier gets nerfed to the ground is entirely dependent on how many hits you'd require to charge the bar.

    i'm not saying it has to be very high. just something to make soldiers actually have to left click with their sword maybe 5-6 times on the way from the enemy flagroom to their own.

    still waiting on a reply that isn't "my opinion is better because i say so". are you going to make any arguments, or are you just going to be a smartass?

    I think it should take damage instead of having the current charge mechanic.

    This sounds crazy, but when you think of it it's not too ridiculous. Look at Ninja. The only reason it's not grossly overpowered is because it takes damage for using Pearls.

    Having crazy mobility should have to have a drawback. This isn't a MOBA: Not everyone has crazy abilities. If they do, there should be some penalty for using it.

    There's no reason to not use the wall climb at the moment. The only thing you lose is that you have to recharge it if you spam it too much. Too many people just use it in situations that are annoying for people trying to deal with the Soldier. Just when you think you've killed one, they climb away to safety, get healed by a Medic, and return right back to capping flags or whatever.

    Now, there's a sacrifice. First of all, you can't spam it to climb walls. You now have to skillfully time your climbs to reduce your damage as much as possible. Now you have to be tactical about it. If you need to retreat with it, you have to make sure you have enough health to escape without killing yourself.
