    The Prophecy
We here at MSW like to pretend to be professionals, and what would fake professionals be without match predictions. BK vs TC (Tournament) by @gamren

Although there were were issues involving the match and reffing permissions, this match will still be included in MSW not only as an article, but as match of the week as well. For those who do not how the tourney mapping works, map one and two are team picks, 3 agreed, and 4 and 5 are random rotation

Hopping right into it, BK chose their new pocket pick, Metro. Well acclaimed for their PvP capabilities, many believed that BK were going to be able to 3-0 TC relatively easy on it due to that advantage. The idea behind it was great, and the roster backed it up as well. The thing is, what did BK expect from the showings of June and Quar on the roster? Both were monsters on defense, with Quar’s pyro making immense problems for the BK offense. Not only did the BK offense struggle to steal let alone get out of the flagroom, but the TC offense was able to get past the BK offense. Their original plan of a swift 3-0 came to ruins after TC tied up the map 1-1. With little time left, BK claimed a clutch capture nearing the end of map one. Although a BK map win, many could consider this a moral victory going into map 2, blackout. One fault going into this from BK may possibly linked to not having Epeek, once of BK’s top PvPers, on defense.

In the past, BK has been able to excel against TC when it came to blackout, with the most recent TC match before this one being quite close on blackout. Brandishing their new recruits, TC came in with strong will and determination. Their defense was absolutely superb. With the likes of Kev on defensive archer, combined with June, Quar, and overall the whole setup of defense, TC was a power house. Their offense as usual was amazing, and propelled them forward in not only defense, but all around offense/recovery. @kevshadowslayer helped propel the TC recovery forward with well timed headshots all around the board. The game stretched out all the way to 30 minutes, due to it consisting of many stalemates. TC not only gained a 4-0 victory against BK, but a moral one as well, since many could note the frustration that BK was having just looking in the chats.

Right after, we were taken to skyworlds. BK, coming from a major disadvantage not only score/cap-wise, but morally as well, knew that they needed to pull their act together to prove themselves not only their group favorite, but as a tournament favorite as well. Both team’s offenses were powerhouses, gaining steal after steal. In the end, BK pulled their act together all around, and was able to gain a 3-0 victory. Although 3-0, the match took about 14 minutes, a very long time for BK to gain this win. Still, a win is a win, and with that 3-0 under their belt, BK only needed one more map to take this group stage spot.

Onto a random rotation map: Tanks. Probably/rarely seen in competitive play, many viewers were amused and curious to see this map pick showing up. I myself was very excited to see how this event would unfold. With quick propulsion from their previous win, some could say that the BK offense, and all around roster, gut their act together. They were able to defeat TC at a decent pace 3-0. With that said, BK was given the win in this tournament match, going 2-1 BK, 4-0 TC, 3-0 BK, 3-0 BK. Definitely an amazing game. TC is looking like an absolute powerhouse going into many of these matches against top teams, and definitely shouldn’t be underestimated. BK as well, having many strong players and strategies. Both teams played amazingly. The player of the game was @Quarrelt for not only amazing defensive plays, but clutch recoveries. Leading the charge of TC recovery, MSW is proud to name her player of the game. Good luck to the teams in their future tournament matches!

    BK vs RR By @kevshadowslayer

On Saturday 7, January 2017, a clash of two CTF Team titans occurred. The newly-formed Black Knights 2.0 competed against Radiance Reborn in an 8v8 Official match with usual rules: MMR, Max 1 Pyro / Assassin / Archer, Max 2 Medic / Heavy, Max 3 Soldier, and no ninja holding. The map rotation consisted of Kill Creek IV, Metro, and the Airlock Rework. A very close match to the very end, both teams played wonderfully.

A very early steal by @ningeek212 and a very nice run, making it all the way to the river in front of BK’s spawn with some very well placed webs, nearly secured BK a first cap on RR’s pick of Kill Creek v4. Unfortunately, despite the support given to him by @Misplacement and @KipO1, BK was unable to give the medic support needed for nin, allowing @lauten to aerial assassinate nin in the river. Aside from the first major steal from ningeek, The majority of the first half of the match consisted of very few steals. RR snuck out with @Nazhoo , but @Epeek was able to get a quick soldier recov before the support could reach Calig. BK then stole with KipO1, but a few nicely timed assassinates from lauten secured their flag. Both teams showed their notorious defenses, with star defensive players like the pyro god @LeDoener , soldier defenders Epeek and @DoodleBerry7 , and @buhdgy as ninja. Both teams also played very skilled archers, both known for their nearly aimbot like precision: @ComBows from BK (Slayway), and @Duhzi from RR (StylePoints). A very clean steal by KipO1, assisted by Raging’s insane pvp skills, allowed Coca to get all the way to under the mid bridge. Coca is killed, which leaves the flag for nin to pick up. However, another nice assassinate by lauten recovers their flag. With nearly 6 minutes left in the game, Nazhoo has a very nice steal, making it all the way back to his flagroom area, however, a lucky steal by Coca, along with a fairy amusing assassin-on-assassin aerial from @Unifier , allowed BK to force a stalemate for the last 3 minutes of the game, leaving the end result as a tie.

Metro starts off with a substitution into the game of LisaPham99 for lauten. Funnily enough, both archers switched from archer to mage, an interesting hindrance to both teams’ offense. Nearly a quarter into the game, Coca was able to get a very clean steal with chemist, giving BK 2.0 the first cap of the game. BK’s defense was doing work, especially Epeek as heavy, making quick work of RR’s offense, using pure pvp prowess to pick them apart. A pair of steals from Misplacement and KipO1 as heavy and chemist respectively gave BK two chances for another cap, but RR’s recovery was able to stop them before they reached mid.

    (THREE MAN FREEZE BY @DUHZI)

RR had a good chance for a long steal with Nazhoo with heavy, but a very nice web by @choochoo16 stopped him right in his track, allowing for Coca to crit him for the recov. A series of quick steals at the end started with a nice medic steal from nin, only to be stopped by a clutch medic steal from @puhdgy , allowing Nazhoo to recov off of nin, but BK was able to secure the recov of puhdgy fairly quickly. However, Nazhoo was also camping in BK’s flagroom, leaving him to have a good steal, making it to mid before being stopped by Coca’s dombo, leaving the win to BK 2.0; 1-0.

RR was obviously at a disadvantage coming into Airlock Rework, seeing as they needed a 2 cap lead to secure an overall win for the match. A bit more open than Metro, this map would accommodate Nazhoo’s notorious dodging and hopping wallclimb acrobatics, shown when Nazhoo quickly secured a first cap for RR early in the game. Epeek’s pvp prowess could not be used to it’s full advantage on this map, seeing as there is no major chokepoints on Airlock Rework when you defend against Calig. Radiance’s spread-out defense worked very well on this map, especially with Duhzi putting in work with mage midfield.

    (Ladders don’t respawn @gamren silly)

Going into the second half of the map, the scores cap-wise were tied, leaving whichever team to cap again to have the advantage. A nice steal by Nazhoo was crushed by LeDoener’s frenzy, a scene that was played out multiple times. Both teams were not giving any lee-way to their opponent. A very nice steal by KipO1 as soldier was stopped last second by Nazhoo as soldier right at the entrance to BK’s flagroom, and a heavy outburst of offense from RR gave DoodleBerry a steal with chemist, making it nearly to mid before being ganged up by BK’s ninjas. However, a lack of core defense from BK allowed Nazhoo to have a clean steal while fully healed, but a series of glass-cannon attacks from Coca secured the recov for BK. With RR clearing away Doener, Nazhoo was able to make it all the way to mid as soldier, but was knocked off the map, leaving the scores still tied and only 2 and a half minutes remaining. A very nice steal again by Nazhoo, with amazing medic support by Puhdgy and chemist support by @Pabliktroll , forced Nazhoo to race the clock to run all the way from one flagroom to the other, nearly getting hit into spawn. But in the end, Nazhoo secured the second cap for RR with 21 seconds left on the clock, giving Radiance Reborn a 2-0 win on Airlock Rework, and a 2-1 overall victory against BK 2.0. For amazing offense and plays, we are happy to name Nahzoo player of the game.

    TT vs TC by @Proterozoic

Recently the boundary between mid and top tier teams has been shrinking in size. There are many reasons for this, including the recent drastic increase in ability from certain groups. One of these happens to be TC, who have had huge success recently through their practise and fantastic strategizing on blackout. Meanwhile, TT have continued their domination of the team scene, and despite an upset loss to radiance reborn, have been cleaning up team after team, playing consistently well for months. With all of this in the current situation, it's no surprise that the match between these 2 teams was to be incredibly entertaining, exciting, and unexpectedly close.

The first match was the classic TC map choice, blackout. Both sides set out strong rosters, though TT did choose to hold back a couple major threats until later in the match. A first cap in the first minute of the game due to @Snowleak14 and @Gowrbehmunk put TT in a strong position. However, TC climbed back and fought against the strong momentum TT began with, and managed to end the map in a tie of 4-4!

The second map was the choice of the Templars, who went with lowrise, and definitely suited TTs powerful offense. A first capture was made quickly by @Mirgh, demonstrating this. However, TC capitalised on this thanks to @Maddiq. TT decided to unleash the major threats they had been holding in the back, @b0squet and @Chactation. Although a valiant effort was made by TC, TT managed to secure the game 3-1.

This meant that it had all come down to the final map, Opposites collide, a heavily defensive based map. Over 10 minutes of the game was stalemate as both teams had managed to steal, but were unable to recover. It was TT who ultimately managed to win the stalemate and recover, leading @mirgh to make a decisive capture for TT. A second stalemate broke out, but ultimately nobody managed to capture again, leading to a final map score of 1-0 for TT.

The game not only showed the ability of both teams, but also just how far TC has come recently. TT has decisively won over TC in 6-0s before, and so to not only draw with them on blackout, but also stall them out to a third game and capture on their own map. Usually in each game there tends to be a player who stands out from the crowd, even with the ability of the others on display. With this match it's a little different, because everyone stood out and played incredibly well. Definitely one of the most intense and entertaining matches of the year so far!

Player of the game was given to @Forums for not only an impressive job on defense, but recovery as well. Nice work!

I'll still stop in to read these. A bunch of the CTF team and community were too kind to me during my time at Brawl, so I'll be watching for these. Thanks gam!
