Idea Reduce Game Sizes

    Games should be reduced to be 15v15. In my opinion, a lower player count in each game will make CTF a lot more fun and balanced. Here's just some of the advantages of lower games (from the top of my head):
    • Archers won't be as annoying, as there will be less of them.
    • Incredibly OP defences won't be as frequent, as there's less players who'll be defending (but also less players offending, so it'll still be balanced).
    • Less engineers.
    • Games will go faster, and fast games seem to be what most players like now (considering mini-games are as popular as they are).
    • Less lag
    • Less chaos, especially on freeday.
    • Suits smaller maps - more and more small maps seem to be made nowadays.
    CTF may not have enough servers to host 30 player games, during peak times. However, servers can always be taken from elsewhere (HG will do just fine with 2 servers, Party only needs 3, the event server could be used for CTF instead, War could probably get away with just 1 server, .etc). As well as this, when all servers are full, the player limit could automatically increase as necessary, so there's always slots for people to join.

    I prefer larger games because it's harder to cap and it's more fun. Also you don't really need any HG servers considering it gets 0 players XD

    This has stopped being funny sporty - try and be slightly mature (please).

    @SoCool21 maybe make it 20x20? Since IMO 15x15 might feel a bit empty.

    I don't think 20x20 is a big enough change for much of a difference to be made, but it might be enough. We can always change it around and see what people like the most.

    Tbh a poll would be helpful. Idk but I find bigger games much more fun and active. If the max player count per server is lowered slightly, it could help evenly distribute player count in two servers, making each game feel just as full and fun.

    It's really not immature it's a fact. HG has been doing nothing but stay as a loss for brawl. It almost never has players and when it has enough for a large game it's usually just random events that occur once in a blue moon.

    Anyways, despite larger games seeming more chaotic, it's a great way to practise and improve the game, especially if you attempt to play as offense, where it'll normally be something like a 10 man defense. Capturing past that feels like a pretty great achievement, making the game sizes smaller would kill the fun that is caused mainly by chaos.

    Agreeing with both of those. I just found it funny how someone said that a games that gets 20-40x more players than another game should get less server space (war and HG).

    I also like big games because of the reasons luka mentioned.

    I'd like for game sizes to stay the same. Like Luka said, it feels like an achievement capping against a large defense.

    My thoughts behind it are that people rush to try to fill in a server. You don't see people complaining that there are too many people on, then leaving. Because of this (and because there is no definitive way of knowing which would be better without trying it and no devs) I believe the general consensus of the ctf community will be for games to remain the same.

    Big, OP defences make people much more frustrated than accomplished, especially people who aren't amazing at the game and aren't able to cap as well.

    Defences like these are very tricky for someone to cap against, unless they are absolutely amazing at capping. Experiences like these lead to much more frustration as opposed to accomplishment.

    But if you also look at the map there, it's very defensive op. I don't think the issue with huge defences and being hard to cap against is the defence always, sometimes the maps flagroom makes a huge difference.

    I've seen randoms cap against defenses like that and ones even bigger. Also, remember that bigger games result in more defense, but also result in more offense.

    Great idea, we've found smaller games to be better competitively anyway. Only downside would be that every player now counts more, so if you get a troll it could mean a loss

    Poll shows that people seem to be torn between 15v15 and 25v25. More people want the game sizes to be reduced though. I think it should be 20v20 for a week or so just to see how it goes.

    From what I've seen, a fair amount of people in each CTF game aren't actually playing, they're just having fun chatting to other people in chat. I think decreasing the amount of players per game too much would discourage people from doing this, and this might result in quite an unfriendly community.
    Take a look at HG, every game is competitive, taking time to chat if you're hunting/mining/during invincibility would result in a slight disadvantage to yourself, so not many people do so. As a result, new players feel quite unwelcome in HG, coz there really isn't anyone to talk to. Of course it wouldn't be so bad in CTF, but you get the idea

    Usually we have 1 server full, and overfilled at some points, while 1-2 other server(s) are empty. Can we lower game size to get multiple games going, as they are, money is being wasted.

    I agree, but cutting the server size in half or at least to 30v30 can still allow for people to chat and makes each player worth more which could persuade players to play more actively. Also there are tools like Discord for players to use to call to each other (if they have a mic that is)

    Anyway, I agree with a bunch of people on this thread that it's a lot of fun to cap on large defense. But that's pretty difficult and smaller games like 15v15 or 20v20 are more balanced between the offense and defense sizes. You'll still get the rewarding satisfaction from a cap while dealing with less frustration. I also feel that larger games lead to less productivity. There'll be a lot more players chilling in a larger game because they feel they won't make that much of a difference, seeing how big the game is. Bigger games make player feel smaller and less useful, which leads to unproductivity. That isn't so bad, but it's boring for the objective players.
