    @aefrogdog did this once. Basically everything class related is doable with command blocks, so that's pretty awesome.

    Yea I think I've got a server owner to take up my game, so I won't have to deal with playing 1.8 pvp on this server if there's a steady playerbase for it.

    idea: make the classes have the same everything as the brawl ctf classes

    Hard to recreate {solution I used instead in curly brackets}:
    Engineer's turrets {replaced class with Thief}
    Anything to do with Necro {replaced class with Marine}
    Sword-blocking {drop sword for wall-jumping, assassin's insta-kill isn't instant and can be blocked if you have shield}

    Pyro's exploding bow (hard to set players on fire through functions) {Flame bow with restock-when-crouching arrows}
    Flint and Steel not hurting teammates {replaced with fire aspect on axe and drop-item ability that causes explosions}
    (just gave me an idea: replace fns item in 1.13 - if iron ingot is in one hand and flint in the other and you right-click, acts like fns but consumes the flint)

    Elf's water and air elements {replaced with mark-for-death spectral arrows and exploding arrows}

    Medic healing teammates by hitting them {replaced with dropping sword to heal}

    Ninja's immunity to melee damage while invisible {nothing, thought it was an unfair ability anyways}

    Every difference comes from one or more of the following reasons:
    1. Hard to recreate (listed above)
    2. Think the ability is OP/UP and needs replacing or removal
    3. I hate Engineer turrets and the Necro class with an undying passion
    4. Rebalancing considerations for 1.12 combat instead of 1.8
    5. Adding interesting/unique/fun abilities to characters that don't exist on Brawl (elytra, dual-wielding, sweep attacks, shields, tipped arrows, the 1.9 axe redesign, fishing rods, levitation effect, holding a specific item gives a buff/nerf, kb resistance, arrows that don't arc, absorption/health boost effects, lingering potions, thorns enchantment, stealing armor from players, etc)

    Hold on remind me why all of the popular minecraft servers still refuse to allow even a single 1.9+ pvp game? A whole 4 minecraft updates have come around begging for people to use their new stuff for something interesting, and what do we get? Another WarioWare knockoff (Minecraft Party) and a KotK knockoff (Battle Royale). If people are so willing to use fricking guns as an alternative pvp style in minecraft, why not the actual vanilla combat system!?

    I'm not even asking for people to change the current games from 1.8 - if you like it, that's great, stay on the bajillion servers that host it. Just give me ONE GAME that uses a combat system I prefer - I've literally made it all for you anyways.

    Heres why...
    ...No one was asking for a combat rework
    ...It removed one of the prime ways players communicated other than chat
    ...People had to pretty much relearn everything they had known from the past 6 years
    ...Infinite other reasons

    Okay so you have the 6 games on the server that are 1.8. Add a 1.12 game, it isn't that hard.

    Many people were asking for a combat rework
    Sword-blocking as a communicative tool? really? just spam-crouch, or spam shield if you have one.
    1.12 pretty much plays identical to 1.8, save for the cooldown mechanic. W-tapping, S-tapping, and strafing are still a thing, but now there's more stuff (crit combos, axes, shields, etc).
