    Hello CTFers,

In the past weeks, we’ve seen the Assassin and Elf tweaks, and in the next days we are going to test some changes to Pyro. That testing phase will start Sunday, July 21st and will last until Friday, July 26th.

    Here are the changes:
    • Flint and Steel:
      • Durability bar holding 4 charges (4 fires)
      • When the durability bar is at zero, no fire can be placed
      • The durability bar gradually refills one charge every second
    • The Pyro will take less fire and lava damage:
      • Decrease the damage tick rate by half

These ideas have been brought up in the CTF Community Discord and we would like to see how they are affecting the class. Please vote in the ingame poll that will come up in about two days after the testing started. Feel free to also post your opinion about it on this thread.

    Love and waffles!

Interesting concepts, and will be happy to see how they work in-game. However these tweaks do not fix any current issues that pyro has. I was hoping for more of something like increasing the fire tick duration using the bow or making is more reliable to charge frenzy. Are these issues going to be addressed?

Looking at these two “tweaks” makes me question a lot here. First off, why does fire tick matter? What class other than pyro will light me on fire that’ll cause significant damage to me? Mage? Well **** if I see a mage I just run away. This tweak doesn’t do anything to help it. As for the flint and steel that is also pointless because spamming it is never going to create value. I find these tweaks lazy but I’ll let you guys do your thing lul.

Why was adding more ticks to bow shots not part of this? It wouldn’t be a hard change, and would be a solid buff to the class. I mean I’m glad for the changes, but it’s more like a busy idiot. Working hard in the wrong places

These are nice tweaks, but as stated previously, they are very minor. Pyro doesn't bear as much priority for changes as other classes, especially after 2 consecutive armor buffs (but it could stand to see something a little more than this). The fire tick is a nice gimmick and flint seems more user friendly, but I would personally suggest something such as slightly longer fire duration on things such as frenzy and the bow. Other than that, it will be interesting to play around with this week.

Wow, another miniscule near pointless update that doesn’t solve any problems people have with the class!

Isn't there already a cap on how many fires a pyro can place with the flint and steel?

Currently one second coodown between each fire, with this change you could place down four at once before having to wait for a cooldown.

Only other way to make it more reliable is to have it set to a timer instead of needing 4 hits? or what if it could charge frenzy for every hit it receives, on top of the hits it deals?

I'm still all for reverting back to its instakill, but increasing fire ticks for its bow shot would make sense as well

--even tho i think pyro (especially with its common pocket medic) is still the strongest class in the game for flagroom defense /shrug (assuming ur not a noob who cant pvp nor hotkey lolrip)

And i totally agree, we got so many other stuffs to be worrying about (@Admiral_Munson i knew that was ur funny rating b4 looking at it x'D), but why hold something back from what was immediately on our mind? hopefully it doesnt mean we're not working on other things hehe, cuz i at least certainly want progress to be made with necro, dwarf, and maybe even bringing back old, building/structural engie in some way ... and u guys can and have been certainly helping with that. Keep pounding us with the reminders and ideas!

You need to either buff the armour, or the damage output. Preferably armour because atm pyro is really weak against buffed heavy, and chemist. Probably the two most common offensive classes. The problem is, becauseof the low armour, pyro is forced to steak and not give out that high damage like it should.
The other option is to buff the damage output without making the class too OP. If this happens then frenzy should be removed for fire-axe damage of around 4.5 hearts per hit. I don't like the idea of *instakill pyro* as its just broken. You can literally one shot offenders.
I would like one of the other to happen. Increasing fire tck etc I don't think is needed.
