This has now been addressed in the rules page, under "Discouraged Strategies".

We are not going to directly ban people for F3+A, but if someone is caught Xraying then we won't accept F3+A as a valid excuse in an appeal.

Why would someone Xray when they can do F3+A? And how do you distinguish wether someone is Xraying and using F3+A?

    We can't distinguish - that's the point.

We won't ban players for using F3+A (we wouldn't ban anyone off of a video like what tallscot posted). However, we may mistakenly think that someone using F3+A is using Xray. If this happens and they appeal claiming to use F3+A, their appeal won't be accepted. For this reason, we don't encourage anyone to use F3+A.

So why not just make F3+A forbidden? With this current rule any moderator can get someone who is known for using F3+A permbanned eventhough the use of F3+A is only ''discouraged'' and not bannable on its own. With this protocol it is basically already bannable, but you're making it sound as if it's not, which can mislead people.

Late to the party I know, but I just want to interject my opinion into one of the points made.

Personally, having been through the staff application process and system all the way up to moderator, I don’t find an issue with how long it takes to resolve an application. Time has to be taken to monitor the applicant for anything that could warrant denial of the application, as well as taking the time to speak with other staff members who have experience with the applicant. It’s no different from an actual application process. If you were a staff manager or the owner of your workplace, you would not only be doing what you can to evaluate the applicant, but take care of your other tasks on top of that (SMods and Admins do have other stuff they have to do on top of their main role).

That’s just my two cents about it.

This is a volunteer job without pay. Any fast food or customer service place you decide to apply to will get back to you within a week of you applying, and they pay. So that comparison doesn't really make much sense. Staff manager should be the only role that person has because of how in depth it is, and if this were the case it should only take a week to review potential applicants, especially with the very little amount of applications that are submitted.

I'd understand this if brawl had a lot of options and if trial didn't exist. But the truth of the matter is brawl doesn't have too many options for staff anymore, so anyone close to qualified deserves a chance imo. Trial also exists for a reason, to see if a newly accepted applicant can handle the responsibilities of staff.

Late reply I know but life caught up with me. I currently work a volunteer job without pay. This job required an interview, a background check, and input from other people within the department that I knew. I’m currently going through the same process with another fire department, but that’s a paid job. Being a staff member on Brawl is (in a way) a lot like being in a fire department which is what I currently do. You are being handed power. It’s INCREDIBLY unwise to just hand somebody power without taking your time to go through the process of seeing that they are qualified and there aren’t any incriminating skeletons in their closets. If you screw up, it could backfire.
My reply to tallscot still applies, unfortunately. It’s tough that Brawl doesn’t have options for staff members, but it’s not like they can pull applicants out of thin air. I haven’t been back long enough to understand why many left, but from what I’ve seen it looks like there is a strong staff team in place currently with the people they do have.

They aren't comparable. Obviously I'm not saying staff should be accepting people without doing background checks etc, but it genuinely does not take more than a week for an efficient staff system to review potential applicants. That's from experience on Complex, which has 1.5k+ players. Applications are reviewed every Sunday, every single one of them and it's efficient.
