    All of those spells have cooldowns. Try playing mage for once

    I play a lot of Mage and I'm in favor of it being nerfed a little.
    As I have practically mained Mage for the past few months I know it's not an easy class to master - by comparison to the others (aside from Elf) - but when used correctly its incredibly powerful.

    I'm not that great with the class but I've fought against people who are (@Sir_Inge, not to say you're not, I just haven't fought you in game before) and it is often a VERY hard fight to win. For example, if I go Heavy I try to attack the Mage, usually by running and strafing to dodge the damage spells and even if I manage to get close I can still get knocked back 10+ blocks and I take a bunch of damage and my limited health pool is depleted while Mage has a 50 heart heal to fall back on every 10 seconds.

    The issue that this nerf is trying to address with Mage is its incredible power against short ranged classes and low armor classes by reducing spell spamming. Anyway I don't agree with the nerf, because it nerfs spell spamming, which is literally how Mages deal 95% of their damage. This nerf would make Mage far too vulnerable to Chemists, Ninjas, and even Heavies because it forces Mage to rely too much on Lightning, Fire, and Ice spells, all of which have longish cool-downs and deal far less damage.

    Imo, a much better nerf would just be to reduce the damage and knock-back (maybe) on the damage spell to that of an iron sword so that damage spells aren't so damn strong against melee classes. Also, nerf the heal spell a little so that way a skilled Mage can't sustain through a 5v1 :stuck_out_tongue:

    I play Mage a lot, and I mean A LOT. The spell spamming usually comes from the people who don't know how else to play it; aka the randoms on free to play days. I don't really see how this nerf would help. All the Mage mains don't use the damage spell over and over, we use every spell. As I see it, all this would really do is confuse the randoms on FTP days.

    Like @Admiral_Munson , the only nerf I see that would help would be reducing the length/effectiveness of the healing spell, and reducing the damage that the damage spell gives.

    As a lot of people seem to want something to happen with the healing spell, I'm gonna come up with a healing spell nerf and edit the thread once I get back to my PC. Please continue the feedback and suggestions so I can make the nerf (probs will be a rework if I carry on for too long) a better one.

    "Spam", cause it's not like when I fight a heavy they don't only use their sword to hit me or anything. Do you want me to freeze you every time I can? Do you know how much more annoying that'd be? Damage is out only real way to hurt people, go yell at other classes for using their sword 5 times in a row while you're at it. :stuck_out_tongue:

    TBH Mage needs a rework. IMO there will never be a ranged class that works in CTF.

    I mean, look at it: we have 4 ranged classes and all of them are OP or UP.
    Archer (OP, depending), Pyro (OP), Mage (OP/UP depending on how you doing it), and elf (UP)

    My point is unranged classes will never be able to defend against capable ranged classes.

    Aaaaaand this is why I type /engineer every time i come across a mage as any class. I know how to troll with knockback too.
