Focus Thread - Necro (+ Poll)

    What is up Drama Alert nation.

    Necro has been in a bad state for the last four years since it was initially reworked in 2013. It has either been 1) gamebreaking, 2) extremely OP, or 3) UP as heck at various times during that period. Right now, after the recent rework, Necro is in a slightly better place but it still needs a lot of work. The goal of this thread is to get an idea of what the community at large wants and to arrive at a solution that makes as many people happy as possible.

    I have made a compilation of suggested changes to Necro from this thread and all of the 62 idea threads over the past three years. You can view it below.

    Linked here is a poll for what you think of the various ideas presented (excepting the ones in the 'general' section at the bottom). It's a little lengthy but it shouldn't take too long to fill out. When you have time time, please do so.

    That said, here are (almost all) the Necro changes proposed by the forums community since early 2015. They deal with everything from changing Necro's armor to reworking how its mobs interact with the flag. I suggest you take a look.


    • remove gold and iron armor. Replace with diamond and leather
    • remove gold and iron armor. Replace with iron and chain
    • remove gold and iron armor. Replace with full leather (@xxMineSheepxx)
    • keep armor the same but replace iron boots with gold ones and remove the helmet (@Alturia10 [1])

    • spawn mobs with 'sacrificial blood' feature. Blood is refunded after mob dies (@Lujiu)
    • add 1 steak (me and @Alturia10)
    • replace steak with rotten flesh. If necro or necro zombies get a kill, it restores 1 rotten flesh (@AriesRam10 and @EddKrumbs - see above, somewhat similar idea from @clamlol)


    • replace with diamond shovel
    • hits with diamond shovel restore mob health by half heart. If an enemy is hit, necro's health is restored by the same amount (both ideas by @lasertagfighter [1])
    • remove pickaxe (@patriq and other people)
    • add knockback I to pickaxe (@BigBenzy3 [1], @Nucleon__, and me. Similar idea from @Zacharyk2011 [2] -- knockback II)

    • speed II -> speed III (or "faster zombies" @Cardona360, @UYScutix, and me [1,2])
    • add resistance III (me)
    • strength III -> strength I
    • mobs spawn with speed II and a wooden sword (@birdy117, and a somewhat similar idea from @AriesRam10, @clamlol, and me [1, 2, 3] -- strength I, speed I, and regeneration I)
    • mobs spawn with full buffs and a iron sword (@Miskey from podcast, somewhat similar idea from me [1])

    • all mobs recieve strength and speed I when within 5 blocks of necro, weakness and slowness when more than 30 blocks away (@2002Tiki)

    • multiply into baby zombies when killed
    • add hit/on hit debuffs - blindness or slowness
    • grow in size when damaged
    • throw ghast balls (all of the above by @_featherpaw_ [1])
    • necro resurrects enemies that they've killed as zombies instead of spawning them directly (@Plautius [1], me)
    • zombies always spawn with a sword (@Miskey, @Cardona360, similar idea from me)
    • increase and scale up zombie health (start at 6 -> 10 hearts) over time (@UYScutix)
    • buff base damage (@UYScutix)
    • spawn zombies 5 at a time instead of 1 (@lastertagfighter somewhat similar idea from @birdy117 [1, 2])
    • zombies spawn with speed II

    • add other on hit debuffs
    • shoot flaming arrows
    • add fastbow (all of the above ideas by @_featherpaw_)

    • remove and replace with ghasts (me)
    • remove and replace with creepers (@clamlol)


    • teach mobs to avoid water (me)
    • change zombie AI to that of WarZ AI (@Miskey, @Serine1002, and others)
    • fix mob AI (everyone)

    • Necro 'dread aura' similar to Elf aura. Buffs mobs within aura, debuffs enemies (@Lujiu)
    • Remove access to blazes and skeletons (@Lujiu)
    • Remove mob snowballing mechanic (@Lujiu, @Claod, and others)
    • Increase XP gained from mob hits (me)
    • add wither skeletons which can steal the flag (@lastertagfighter)
    • completely rework Necro. Necro takes on the form of its mobs and has special abilities for each mob (@SFAT, @Iosif_Stalin, and a somewhat similar idea from @patriq [1, 2, 3])
    • necro spawns with all of its eggs at once (@blitz_dragon [1] and others)
    • spawning mobs causes an AOE effect - such as poison, knockback, or an explosion (@patriq)
    • make Necro immune to negative potion effects (@xxMineSheepxx [1])
    • add AOE crowd control debuff
    • add wither skull allowing Necro to siphon half of an enemy's buffs and health for the necro (both ideas by @xxMineSheepxx)
    • replace mobs with magma cubes, wither skeletons, and endermen
    • can spawn no more than three mobs at a time
    • change mobs to be unable to see invisible ninjas (all of the above ideas by @Alturia10)
    • 2.5 second cooldown between placing mobs (@Miskey [1])
    • add 'magic shard' system to spawn new mobs (@birdy117 [1])
    • turn into a skeleton with strength I for 5 seconds after dying. Come back to life if you get a kill (@AriesRam10)
    • add 3 splash potions of poison I (me)
    • Necro - the pokemon rework (@SFAT [1])

    Frequently suggested/popular ideas are highlighted in green. Unpopular ideas are highlighted in red.

    The amount of reworks I've made on Necro is ridiculous. My latest idea is in your other thread about Necro so I wont restate it here, but im still pretty solid with that.

    Honestly, the one time a month I log on I still play Necro no matter the state. I pretty much owe it too the class at this point.

    On the poll I voted for the pickaxe thing, I don't like the idea of it having sharp I though, just pointing that out.

    Yeah I also wanted something similar on that question except just a regular diamond shovel instead of the one with all the abilities. The diamond shovel and sharp I pickaxe should have the same damage except a shovel makes more sense for necro because grave diggers use shovels to unearth the dead so it that might make sense. I guess it'd be hard to take out engi's turret but it's still pretty easy to take it out with a few hits.

    I never said I wanted a shovel, hitting people with a shovel deals the same damage as hitting people with your fists, I want the pickaxe but with Knockback I only, not with Shaprness I on it. A shovel is useless

    A diamond shovel deals 2.5 hearts of damage, not the damage of a fist. https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Shovel

    You must have been thinking of 1.9 but CTF is still operated by 1.8.9 and below

    While that is about the same as medic's current sword, it makes sense since necro should be more abilities orientedtated than just melee damage

    Necro should have his zombies deal the damage and not himself. It would make way more sense to me if he just got knockback to knock people into the zombies / mobs and keep them off himself. If he wants to deal damage he can use his golden sword.

    How about the mobs don't deal any knockback to players? I do a lot of PVM {Players vs Mobs} and I played Hypixels new PTL game: "Zombies"? I think. And they deal no knockback or it seems like they deal -1 knockback, which makes the game very difficult. With CTF, knockback aids cappers, and the zombies have to hit you from 2 pixels away in order to hit you, compared to players which is like 6 blocks. I love the ideas, I would rather not vote and explain why cuz of my past experiences with my explanation on things. Please forgive me and my confused self at the moment...

    I was about to go on and on for several hundered paragraphs to explain what I was trying to explain to try to explain to try to explain to try to explain.... nvm
